2019/2020, Yuletide

Happy New Year! I had a great ending to 2019 and beginning of 2020 and I hope you did too :)

DD had free tickets, so on December 30th we went to the Museum of Modern Art. By far my favorite "exhibit" was the "human billiard" installation: a big bouncy castle, without the "castle" parts but with large balls :D
Afterwards we went to see the newest Star Wars movie (more on that later.) DD also badly twisted her ankle, which sucks.

Then on New Year's Eve instead of going somewhere this year DD and I invited friends and LB to our place. We had cheese fondue and chocolate fondue, it was delicious. In-between we played a boardgame and destroyed Sauron, and clearly defeating Dark Lords is a good omen.

Today there was more delicious food at my parents', and time to read (so many stories – Yuletide and others – I want to read!) Tomorrow I'm planning to start being productive and studying etc. again, but not yet.

Yuletide fics were revealed. This was my sixth time participating, and so far I've written Steerswoman fic every second year.

Things That Make You Think Different (Steerswoman series – Rosemary Kirstein)
Gen, 2.7k
Summary: Alemeth will go on forever, more or less the same. It's Steffie that's changed.

( Extended Notes )

comments

October, week 3.5

The Yuletide tag set is out, so sign-ups are soon, and I didn't have time to (re-)read all the books I wanted to read until then because unsurprisingly I have less time to read now that I'm working more. Boo.

Work itself continues to be interesting though, and I'm still doing okay with adjusting. Though one of my wrists is hurting again and my skin is starting to itch, possibly warning signs for stress, so I'm especially trying to be more relaxed about uni.

I did go running last week (once, and not for very long, but better than nothing.) I even already studied some today, and I'll have some time to read for fun later. *knocks on wood* I'm a bit behind because my grandparents were visiting last weekend, it was very nice to see them.

We went on a half-day trip together to Krems, which is closer to Vienna than I realized and a very medieval looking town. Very nice even though it was a foggy day. They have a caricature museum and I insisted we go because they have a science fiction exhibition, which I enjoyed, especially the many Perry Rhodan illustrations. The Vienna library has many Perry Rhodan books, but I only ever read a few. (I started in the middle and a story where all the heroes were already immortal seemed kinda boring. I might appreciate it more now, but I already have a very long reading list so the chances I'll get around to it any time soon are not high.)

It's nearing the end of October and tomorrow according to predictions we'll get up to 23° in the afternoon, what is this. It's already cold in the apartment though, I think I should get wall hangings.

comments
