Remember what you asked me?
Yes I'm preparing to leave for Worldcon in a few hours but I had some free time (...technically) and DD and I watched the most recent subtitled episodes of The Untamed, up to 42, and I have a lot of emotions.
They ran away together!!! That was basically a love confession surrounded by swords!! "Leave me so you can save yourself"/"No I will stand by you", etc., it was beautiful *happy sigh* And all the clan leaders just watch, and then when Jin Ling confronts Wei Wuxian all the other disciples also just watch, and then they all let them leave, and Jin Ling's sword falls to the ground. Lan Zhan catching Wei Wuxian in his arms after he's stabbed instead of just holding him up is the subtle distinction between romance and friendship, it's wonderful. Jiang Cheng and Lan Xichen made the most beautiful facial expressions of angst and pain.
Ahhh I hope there's a very awkward conversation between Jin Ling and Jiang Cheng (but I'm not hopeful.) And Lan Xichen and Lan Zhan must have met up somewhere after Lan Zhan ran away with Wei Wuxian, for Lan Xichen to be able to invite them to Cloud Recesses – Lan Xichen is such a good brother!
Wei Wuxian using his sword is a great way for him to accidentally reveal himself btw, there was no reason for him to know his sword had sealed itself. Bad luck. And whoa, that conversation he overheard! I didn't want Jin Guangyao to be a bad guy (also, the first half of his conversation with his wife totally sounded like she'd just found out he'd had a male lover), but yeah that was pretty clear, even if I still suspect that he thinks he's doing it for the greater good. So many questions! How did Qin Su's suicide happen? Who is her informer? Why did Jin Guangyao think his son Song had to die? How did Jin Guangshan die, and how did Jin Guangyao succeed him? Everything about Jin Guangyao's plans, pretty much. I knew he had a great creepy smile, but his evil one is very good too.
And now I have to wait until I come back from vacation, and there's only eight more episodes!! It's going to be great.
