I splurged on a weekly calendar (Tischkalender) for work and I don't regret spending around 15€ on it. It has super cute animal illustrations - water color I think. Gorgeous. Brigthens my work day. I would never switch to my phone because as you said "how do you save the appointment when you are on the phone?"
