I have DM powers now *evil laugh*

More D&D stuff; almost like doing episode reviews of our weekly game nights, except only a handful other other people have seen the episode and I want to squee about it anyway.

I was DM for the very first time! With almost no preparation, because until right before I'd held out hope that more people would come and we could continue with our usual campaign. Instead there were only three of us, so I led a campaign for the very first time. It was fun!

Two players at level 4, I even gave them extra money to buy more cool stuff. Then I had them wake up kidnapped by slavers without any of their gear or equipment *g* Eventually they broke out of the carriage, there was a carriage chase, they freed two other captives, then were both knocked unconscious and nearly killed by the guard and only saved by the old elf gardener and halfling merchant they'd freed. (I fudged the rolls just a liiittle bit at the end for the elf and halfling, otherwise it would have been a sound defeat because of some bad dice luck and a less fun continuation even if they survived. When I'm the DM I'm allowed.) By now they've recovered, looted some equipment, repaired one carriage, and are debating whether to a) go back to the town where they were captured to see if they can get their equipment back, or b) try to leave the dukedom as quickly as possible, because they strongly suspect that the duke is involved in the local slave trade, which is controlled (it seems) by the Lord of Thieves.

So before the next time, I should:
- have a rough map of the dukedom and surrounding countries
- have a rough idea of the political situation in the dukedom and kingdom, including the noble families and the thieves' guild
- write backgrounds for the elf gardener and halfling merchant, and figure out what their prisoner the bandit knows
- have a few NPCs ready for whichever town they decide to visit

Being the DM is work… Fortunately both players enjoyed themselves :) Both said they'd be interested in continuing. CP already has a quest for his character.
It'll be at least two weeks until we play again, which is good because I have time to prepare. If the other players can make it I'd prefer to continue the other campaign, but if not, this is good too.
