What, I read a lot *g* Missing emails have now arrived, all is well.

I totally get the desire for fiction not to focus on the near-inevitable messy and less-happy-than-they-deserve aftermath/ending. I'm sort of hoping that it'll be less tragic (optimism!), because two such tragedies in sixty years is a) obviously too much for any country, and b) such a bad ending for everything Jingyan and LS/MCS and the others suffered through. They wanted a better future for their country!, they should get that for at least one generation, they earned it. I don't think the odds are very good though, no TV without drama. Hopefully if it's very sad I'll be able to think of it as an AU.

I don't really want a prequel either though. I haven't had good experiences with prequels, most of the time I was unable to ignore the knowledge of "you die, and you die, and you die tragically, and you betray everyone else, and everything you hope for will end in flames until after many years there is at last a sliver of redemption." I'm sure there is a way to make prequels that are enough their own story that what comes after can be temporarily ignored, but I can't think of examples right now. I like seeing snippets of the past, but I think having fifty episodes to get attached to these people whose tragic fate I already know would be difficult. I like happy endings.

Rant away anytime :)
