Captain Marvel: Shiny
I watched Captain Marvel yesterday and enjoyed it a lot :)
It was a lot of fun all around, and man I enjoyed Carol fully coming into her powers and wrecking the Kree. She looked amazing *_* Though to be fair she generally looked great. I liked her a lot.
I liked Maria too, and Monica. Great fight in the air. (There's a word for that that's escaping me rn.) I really hope we'll see Maria and especially Monica again in the MCU, Monica as a superheroine (Lieutenant Trouble, heh.)
I also liked Fury :) He was fun. (Not sure how I feel about him losing the eye this way… meh.) And Goose the Frelken! Beware the kitten. (Is he going to vomit up the Kree warriors one day too? ^^ )
The occasional jokes about the 90s, like the computer taking forever to load, were fun. Overall the music was okay, some scenes I liked others less.
I did not see the Skrulls being the good guys coming! The Kree being shady, yes, but not the other side. I liked it a lot Though I do think Carol accepted it way too easily: just because the Kree are bad guys doesn't mean the Skrulls are good. I like to think that she was watching for Talos to betray them the whole time until she saw him reunite with his family, which was great btw, I really liked them.
The movie could have emphasized its emotional moments more – which is a bit of a shame, because the hints of it were great (like Maria talking to Carol after Carol says she doesn't know who she is.) I also wished we got to see more of Vers' Kree comrades, to make that part of the betrayal feel more painful. "I don't have to prove myself to you" would have been stronger if I got more of an impression that she wanted to prove herself to him, but it was still a great line. (Reminding me of Steve Rogers in I think Winter Soldier?, when he fought that one guy during a mission.) It felt a bit like I had to add some of the emotion myself instead of seeing it on screen – maybe it's the h/c fan in me wanting to see people suffer more ^^
The mid-credits scene was a perfect tie-in to Endgame, made me more excited for that film than its own trailer did. (Also, there's nothing that says Carol hasn't been in communication with some people on Earth in the meantime, maybe she dropped by every few years…)
