Yuletide approaches

The Yuletide schedule was posted and nominations start in a little over a month – what is time??

Usually during the year I keep a list of fandoms I could imagine nominating/requesting for Yuletide, but this year it's empty of serious contenders so far. Last year I got amazing fics for two fandoms I'd requested before (Innocent for The Inheritance Trilogy and Three Times Morgan Acted on His Feelings (And One Time He Didn't) for Bloodrights), so this year I'd prefer something else. Hm. So far I had great luck requesting things several times (I also got fic for Elemental Logic the third year I requested it, Oh Good, He's Nineteen, and it was totally worth the wait), so maybe I could reread "Harsh Cry of the Heron" and request Tales of the Otori again? Or maybe I'll think of something else I'll discover or that I'm overlooking right now, or maybe I'll get inspired by other people's nominations.

As for offering: I've participated in Yuletide every year since 2014, and in 2015, 2017, and 2019 I wrote Steerswoman fic (Dark Blue Skies about Willam, Corvus, and Abremio, The Wizard's Tower about Rowan and Reeder, and Things That Make You Think Different about Steffie.) So I kind of want to offer Steerswoman again, to keep up the streak ^^ Maybe I'll nominate Fletcher in the hopes that I'll finally either write or get the Fletcher atonement story I've wanted for years.

Haha, I also can't believe it's again about time to nominate for this year! Oh man, time flies. I'm crossing my fingers for you that you can write something you'll find delight in. ♥

On the one hand I want to check out lots of new stuff in case I find something cool, but otoh what if I find something I like now and am no longer interested in by December? Tricky every year.

Somehow, despite my best efforts, Yuletide always takes me by surprise, every year. I've completely missed reading that Inheritance Trilogy fic - will definitely check it out now! And best of luck figuring out your nominations!

Okay so! I saw you namedrop Steerswoman here, and I remembered that someone (possibly you?) had recced it specifically to me on an anonmeme. And then I tracked down the books, but the only one my library had was "The Lost Steersman," which I didn't find a very accessible starting point. But when I started at the actual beginning it was great and I loved it and whoever recced it to me knows my tastes very well, so thank you if that was you! And when I started I was like "maybe I'll be quiet about it and then just treat by surprise," but now I'm thinking I might actually want to request it myself, so I'm going to drop the coy act and go read your fics. :D

I don't think it was me who recced it - definitely not if it was in the last couple of months - but I'm thrilled you enjoyed them! If you decide to request it, I hope you get wonderful fic :)

I highly recommend the two Steerswoman fics written for me, they are both fantastic: Tubbs, In Repose, a Neko Atsume crossover, and Navigational Aids, a post-book 4 epistolary fic.
