Wien bei Nacht sehen

It's midnight and I'm sitting on a dark hill on the outskirts of Vienna, with a beautiful view over the city, watching shooting stars :) I've been here for about an hour and I've seen about 3-5 so far (two out of the corner of my eye I'm not sure about.)
It might be exaggerated because of the clouds, but the difference between how many stars I can see in the direction of the city and away from it is quite stark.
I'll be leaving soon because of the mosquitoes, but it was nice and I'm glad I went.

That sounds so beautiful! I poked my head out last night, but what with the light pollution in Baton Rouge it was unlikely I'd see anything so I headed back inside. :)

It was very pretty! Maybe I should go for walks at night more often, even just walking across the grass and seeing the flowers in the light of my lamp was pretty cool.

That sounds awesome! I didn't want to drive somewhere to watch on my own, so I didn't see anything. (Much too bright here in the city!)

It was nice! Yeah, I doubt I'd have bothered if I wasn't already on the outskirts of the city to begin with.

I spent the fall of 1981 there -- my junior year of college.

Loved it. Also an exciting year for Poland. By the way.

That was before my time - back then I think the entire area where my parents live now was still empty ^^

I haven't been back to Europe since then (I am in the USA) but when I retire I will be back! Assuming I can find a window where travel is allowed.
