Finally a few (very few) snowflakes

I had a fun weekend. On Saturday I wrote an exam (I think it went well), and in the afternoon I went running for an hour even though it was snowing, I was proud of myself for that one. Then D&D in the evening.
And today for my dad's 60th birthday we went on a mystery hunt in the art history museum, which was a lot of fun. Then we had so much food at an Indian restaurant that I almost threw up, and afterwards there was cake, and then I was "busy" catching up on fic posted over the weekend. Maybe I can still study a little bit… (probably not.) The next exam is on Friday, and that one's harder, unfortunately.

Things happened since my last D&D campaign update: After a few more battles against rat people – shorter than feared after we successfully assassinated their leader – we reached the flying city and finally got the potential bounty on our heads called off after completing the quest. We're free now!
About an hour later, the wizard MC called to save the party's lives appeared to call in the favor she owes him: stopping a necromancer who's so evil that every time he's destroyed, the gods send him back to unlife. On a previous quest, some of our party (not MC!) accidentally destroyed the banishment circle that was keeping him contained – they also killed him, which didn't last long, and now he's up to no good again. Fortunately the wizard didn't give a time limit, because currently that's way above our weight class. First step, figure out how we could possibly contain him.
We killed a giant lizard, and then our healer was sent on a quest by a priestess of his god: to rescue a demi-god of travel in his fortress in the icy wastes, where he and his people were being held captive by a cult of psychotic clowns. We defeated, among other things, a ninja tree. The "demi-god of travel" rides a flying sled drawn by reindeers and distributes gifts on a winter festival… unsurprisingly this was the session before Christmas ^^
We save the demi-god, and realize that the cage the clowns used to imprison him might be strong enough to hold the necromancer. It just needs to be modified to hold undead first, which very few people can accomplish, the least evil of them a nature spirit that has sworn vengeance against all descendants of people who had a hand in destroying her forest. So we're planning to ask her for help, after asking some druids for guidance.
Before that, our runecaster got a letter from her nomadic tribe, so we visited and she met two half-sisters she hadn't known about. Unfortunately she didn't really get along with either of them. She asked the elder of the tribe how she can help, and he sent us to help an elven district under quarantine after it was afflicted by a mysterious illness.
We teleported there and met two different groups of healers arguing about how to treat the patients. We tried to help them get along. Then we found out that one of the groups are actually slave traders in disguise, so to the surprise of the rest of her party, who usually know her as the person who tries to solve problems non-lethally, MC immediately proposed killing them all. Everyone has their own hot-button issues… We managed to knock out the slavers' wizard in his sleep, but before we could stop them one of the guards alerted the rest of the group, and MC was almost immediately hit by a sniper. So next time is going to start with an exciting battle.

I like running in the snow! As long as it's not really windy, and it either hasn't been snowing a lot or the path/road has been cleared so the footing is good, it's nice, kind of hushed and magical. Plus you get to feel righteous!

Your D&D campaign sounds awesome. I love how the wizard was like, you have to put a stop to this guy that even the gods can't cope with -- but, you know, whenever's good for you!

Haha, that's great about the wizard's cost/benefit analysis there! As well as awesome that it's already giving the campaign a bit more structure.

XDDD I love how unexpectedly plots can turn out in D&D - sounds like a delightful session, even if you were 'cheated' out of a boss fight XD
