Skyjacks #64

I want to make a rec post/primer for Skyjacks, but that takes longer than I thought, so for now, notes for episode #64.

Adrianne thinking that Jonnit is an angel xDDD
"none but the Sovereign shall command the water"? The church must absolutely hate the Liquid Swords monastery ^^
In general it's hard to have signs of divine power in world with so much magic, especially since the magic is so flexible. Probably James just improvised and didn't think it through, but on a Watsonian level, the interpretation of that passage is probably that "water" is "waters" as in the sea, which no monk can influence because it's too big and also the Mariner, and Adrianne was just over-enthusiastic.
Jonnit pretending to be a prophet affirming Adrianne's faith – uh-oh, she's already a religious zealot, this could go badly.
'You'll be an angel when you die' great reassurance xD

Uh-oh, Gable is loose on a Church ship ^^

"Your theory of wetness reflects your theory of emotional health" yess Margaret tell Travis xD I love that she adjusted her treatment of Travis responding to how he and his friends treat each other, and treats him accordingly. "Like the little bitch he is," heh.

Travis: "I certainly wouldn't trust me to be a father," sure.
Half a minute later, even though Margaret told him he could make a smaller promise, to Jonnit: "I promise… I will never let anyone harm you." TRAVIS. In the end the more reasonable "I promise that I will do whatever is in my power to keep you safe as long as we both live." Uh… that is not a smaller promise, just saying… and could theoretically go very wrong… And Jonnit will hold him to it :)

The Gamzee Makara audition was a highlight xD Poor James.

I've also been thinking about Skyjacks fusions, which is a nice way to boil down what the really important elements of a canon are for me. In this case, sky ships (obviously), and a group of people trying to hide the fact that the captain is a zombie they control.

I think it would work especially well for Leverage: Nate is clearly the zombie captain, and Hardison the necromancer. Sophie is doing most of the work to convince people nothing is wrong with Nate. Parker and Eliot are new on the ship and got involved in the conspiracy entirely by accident – and either they, or Eliot and Sophie, possibly know each other from way back…

For SGA, the zombie captain is Colonel Sumner and Elizabeth does most of the work to convince people everything's fine, but she knows they can't keep it up forever so she organizes something so she can assume leadership – and then she dies, and John and Rodney, as well as new crew members Ronon and Teyla, decide to try the same thing again, except this time it's obviously much harder.

For TMA – well, the choice of zombie captain is obvious, but nobody is sure if he's really dead or not… All of the assistants start out not knowing about the conspiracy. Jon finds out first.
