Minor sleep annoyance

I like to fall asleep curled up on my side. My back prefers it when I sleep on my back. This is annoying.

I have a hip injury, so I have to have quite a construction of pillows to sleep comfortably. Here's what I've learned:

1. If you sleep on your side with your knees stacked, try a pillow between them.

2. If you sleep on your side with your hips twisted so your top knee can rest on the bed, try a small bolster right in front of belly and hip to make it harder to twist like that. I have a big belly that will pull my lower body around, but if I support it with a bolster, my hips will stay more in line, and my back won't hurt as much in the morning.

Really we ought to be able to reduce gravity and cushion pressure in a womb-like sleeping environment but so far science is not prioritizing this.

I'm in the same boat. I know I can only sleep comfortably if I'm lying supine, buuuuut that's not always how I want to fall asleep (stupid cracked discs in my spine *grumble grumble*).

It would be great if bodies and brains could agree on how we should fall asleep :/ Eying [personal profile] resonant's tips with great interest!
