Teeth and fish and princes
Last weekend I had a very annoying but not extremely painful toothache and made a dentist appointment for today, and in the following few days it got a lot better so I was hopeful she'd tell me it was just a temporary infection, especially since I'd just had a regular check-up a month before. Well it was that but I also needed root canal treatment and a filling, now a temporary one but I have to come back in January, etc. etc. Boo. And on top of that it hurt much worse today than it did yesterday - hopefully that'll pass quickly. In the meantime I still need to make myself eat and drink enough. Ahem.
Unsurprisingly I have done very little today after that, mostly reading and fishing on MCCI. I got another screenshot with Etho today, that was pretty cool, after the first one two days ago (I was so surprised that time I completely forgot how to go into screenshot mode and remove the hotbar etc.) And I saw Scar yesterday, that was also cool. I've now made it to level 33 and the first tropical island, and I finally had some better luck with cosmetics today though I still don't have the ones I want most (the forest witch hat, or any of the rods or wings.) Currently I'm wearing a normal witch hat and carrying a beach bucket, with the new eyeblossom cape, and I think it looks cute.
About a month ago I was asking for podcast recs and
scintilla10 recommended The Two Princes. I enjoyed it a lot! I really enjoyed the romance between the titular two princes, they are very sweet. I also enjoyed most of the supporting cast, like Joan and Cecily and the Chamberlain etc. Seasons one and two have big adventures with just the right amount of humor to keep it (mostly) light-hearted; season three had a bigger villain (and tbh a bit of a predictable deus-ex-machina ending, though I didn't really mind), but more importantly it's also a musical with some very fun songs.
Season one has the least songs and is occasionally a bit heavy-handed in its messaging, but my biggest pet peeve was queen Lavinia. She's a terrible queen. Usually monarchies are just something I accept in fantasy stories, but what I can't stand even in fictional monarchs is a lack of care about the responsibility as a monarch, and Lavinia is full-on committed to protecting her son at the price of his own agency and more importantly in all likelihood the fate of her country. Yes they gave her a partial "what have I done" realization but that wasn't enough for me. I wish I could have enjoyed her working together with queen Atossa more. I was relieved that she didn't appear again directly in the next seasons.

But let's see, suggestions, suggestions, no horror or mystery....
Sidequesting and Absolutely No Adventures are both fantasy podcasts that do exactly what you'd expect from the titles. Sidequesting is a little narrator-y.
The Adventures of the Rockabilly Space Force is... well, also pretty much what you'd expect from the title, except for the space force part. They're kinda more space losers.
Camlann has beautiful music, but I would've definitely gotten more out of it if I understood more about Arthuriana going in. So I don't know if you'd at all consider it apropos for "relaxed" or "listening to without full brainpower". Depends on how well you understand the mythos?
Connie Cosmos is appropriately zeerusty, cheesy in the best way, and I don't just like it because my name is also Connie. No second season, though I still hold out hope.
Both Dragon's Rest and Inn Between take place at inns. The first is more straightforward fantasy, the second features an adventuring group (probably not supposed to be a D&D group though this is a D&D-esque setting) "in between" their quests. The inn follows them around. The second is also pretty socially conscious, and at one point gave us an apology for featuring a story arc around a cop, so I can definitely say I recommend their politics. And also their stories, but.
Electromancy may or may not be what you're looking for right now. I can sum it up with the phrase "magical boarding school, child soldiers", and lemme tell you, the fight against colonialism is real. I'm not certain they quite hit the right balance between prophecies and teen dances and also the horrors of the imperial government, but they try.
Falling Star Radio has the weirdest dystopia I've ever heard of, and I think the lemons may be aliens? This may be an acquired taste?
Have Monster, Will Travel involves the search for a cryptid's family, and also lots of other random cryptids. Very light and fluffy, and their nemesis is practically part of the family by now.
His Royal Fakin' Highness is Hamlet as a modern day romantic comedy, and it works surprisingly well.
Hit the Bricks is an Oz-story, but I hesitate to recommend it because there's no second season and no news of one either. The songs are pretty catchy, though.
King of the Egg Cream may be a bit too noir-ish for you. Also, I thought it was historical fiction with Jews and it turned out to be Jewish historical fiction and I think I may have understood it all better if I were Jewish. Pretty funny, though.
Both The Storm Chasers and Warlock have been described by their respective creators as being inspired by anime + a really wild D&D game they played once, and boy do I believe it. I like Storm Chasers a lot, though it's another one on this list that urgently needs a second season. You may have trouble with The Storm Chasers if you cannot put up with flashbacks of emotionally abusive parents. Other than that backstory, though, the series is pretty light-hearted.
The Strange Case of the Starship Iris: everybody is gay while fighting fascism in space. Fascism turns out, btw, to be both inefficient and racist. Shocking, right? This may be a bit more serious than what you want.
I tried to stick only to the more light and relaxed options. You'll definitely want to consider the first two on this list, they're absolutely the lightest of the bunch.

The only one I know is Starship Iris, which is indeed a bit more serious than I currently want but maybe I will get back to it one day.

I hope your teeth will feel better soon. Good on you for getting it checked out before it turned worse!!
Sadly I'm only into nonfiction pods, of which I am listening to many, mainly historical ones.

What are your favorite nonfiction podcasts? In case I'm in the mood for something different :)

I'm curious about "The Two Princes" but my podcatcher doesn't seem to have it. Is "The Two Princes" the podcast's full title?
no subject
As a fun additional complication the ~national health insurance and the dentists' association are currently fighting over the cost of fillings, and if they haven't come to an agreement I might have to pay it out of pocket, so fingers crossed.
It's the full title as far as I know. I know next to nothing about how podcast availability works, unfortunately, but I hope you can find it :)

My quest for "The Two Princes" shall have to continue 😊
