Yesterday I did this meme for first lines, today: last lines of my last twenty fics.
1. She had work to do. (this once, don't wake)
2. The Weaver closed his eyes and wove. (First Rest)
3. "All goalies. Sad," Geno said, shaking his head, and escaped the room with a laugh when Flower tried to shove him. (Accept No Substitute)
4. He could hardly wait to learn more about it. (Sufficiently Advanced Crystal Orbs)
5. Next time, he would be better prepared. (Dark Blue Skies)
6. "Sure," Phil said, and to his mild surprise he actually meant it.
(Stick Your Head Out)
7. "We will," Sid said again, and Olli nodded. (Sacrifice Your Body)
(They did have a great season! Maybe I should write a sequel.)
8. "I'm know you want my manly dick," Geno said smugly, and proceeded to prove it. (Emotional Men)
9. Dutch was sleeping deeply before he finished explaining the outer layer. (Sitting by the Tree)
10. They'll get out of here soon. (Kadavo)
11. Sid just watched his team and grinned. (Home Is Where My Rink Is)
12. "Whatever you want." (Captain's Mark)
13. "Diomika, tell me how my human captain got a pair of antigravity boots…" (Flying for Beginners)
14. They smile at each other, and Robert slowly starts to blush. (Drawn to You)
15. Simon steps onto the ice and skates. (Losing Down)
(Then he got traded, and now it sounds like his concussion problems are very serious, they're not even talking about comeback but quality of life... I hope he'll be okay!)
16. Minho really hopes that's true. (make the night a little less loud)
17. He's too scared to be the first. (Rainbow Patches on Our Jerseys (One Day))
18. The doorbell rings. (Assuming Shape)
19. "So am I," Brandon said emphatically, and Sid smiled. (Comfortable In This Place)
20. It's pretty much perfect. (Smile When We Play Together)
Patterns:
- five lines directly refer to something happening in the future, and with context it's even more
- seven include dialogue
- eleven are quite short
Actually I'm satisfied, or at least not unhappy, with more of these than I anticipated. My favorite is from "Assuming Shape": it leads directly to the scene in the comic, and considering how that ended and what I wrote in the previous paragraphs it still makes me emotional every time I reread it. (Nothing says that this can't be an AU where she survives! Still.)
