Vacations are amazing
Aug. 22nd, 2013 01:53 pmYesterday I came back from vacation. It was amaaazing, I loved it a lot, I had so much fun and it was so good for me.
First I spent a week at a lake (Attersee) in a house with 2/3s of our debate club, so we had days where we had breakfast from 10-12, a debating workshop via Skype with people from the UK or Israel in the early afternoon, then we went swimming, then we cooked together (the food was very good), and at midnight we started playing Settlers of Catan. And during the weekend we debated, with two judging panels that could take as much time as they wanted to. I took the whole week off from studying, didn't even bring my laptop, and it was very freeing. We also did stuff like run out onto the street during a lightning storm, swim at midnight, and come up with crazy&great ideas for our next tournaments.
Then I drove (not the whole drive but over the mountain!) to my grandparents in Vorarlberg, where I spent another week. I'd hurt my foot on the beach so we only went on a few short hiking tours, but I had a great time with my relatives, we went to a nice museum, and I even got some stuff for university done! That I should have done two months ago, but whatever, it's finished! Being productive feels amazing. Now I just need to figure out how to copy the atmosphere (very few interruptions, a lot of space, encouragement but not pressure) at home.
The train ride home was fine, I slept through most of it. And today in the morning I found out that a team from my debate club broke at the European Championship! Finally! \o/ (Next year it'll be me *g*)
I also took advantage of a free promotion at a gym today in the morning. I enjoyed it a lot and they persuaded me to sign up for their program, even though I don't like spending money and don't have a job (yet.) But it was fun and I think it'll be good for me.
All in all, I'm feeling better than I did in months. I also have a plan for reducing my internet time that I think is promising; I had those before with little success, but this one looks good imo and I just had vacation with little computer time so it's not a big adjustment. We'll see.
I'm sorry I didn't think of of sending postcards! Next time.
How are you doing? :)
