Another step in growing up
Jun. 23rd, 2015 10:46 pmI signed my first lease today! It was very exciting :)
The original plan was for me to move in April or May. But then we discovered – almost accidentally, and by hiring our own electrician – that the wiring was bad (it was done "for cheap" and without a certificate) and fixing it took almost two months. (And cost a ton of money. Not my problem, I'm just glad we caught it before moving.) Then I had a few more questions about the contract than property management was prepared for, and it took them almost two weeks, a long message, and phone calls with the property owners to decide that yes, I can have subtenants. And then today I finally signed!
The plan is to have three people in the flat. One of the planned flatmates told me yesterday that she can't afford it after all, so we (DD and I) still need to search for one more.
Next steps, not in exact order:
- order the kitchen
- buy a washing machine
- organize internet
- register with the energy company
- move!
Probably in early July, depending on how fast they can deliver the kitchen. I hoped I could finish my thesis before moving, that doesn't look likely atm but I haven't given up hope (and my parents and my therapist keep telling myself that it doesn't matter if I finish my thesis weeks or months later, but I want it done as soon as possible.) It'll be a big adjustment! But I'm looking forward to it. I think it's going to be great.
