schneefinkI really enjoy the Pens' "In the Room" series, now in its 4th season. It's a great way to remember past seasons and games, plus some looks behind the scenes. The latest one, Ep 3: Hitting Home , was great again.
A good reminder of what happened this past month, like the Rangers game with the crazy disallowed last goal in the shootout and Fleury came back out and won it, the beautiful Sid&Geno OT GWG in Boston for Flower's 300th, how we always play badly against division rivals like the Rangers and Islanders... I love the pictures of the games, like Geno sliding into the goal in Ottawa.
10 wins in November, it didn't seem that many. But the Pens didn't have a two games regulation loss streak this season yet, that's pretty cool.
Olli is back! Talking about how his form of cancer wasn't serious with a big scar on his neck. He still looks like he could be fifteen. Olli admiring Sid and Flower was cute. And Flower being glad he doesn't have to face Sid :) and Geno, Flower really is lucky. (He only has to face Ovi, and Stamkos, and Datsyuk, Kane, Seguin... pff.)
But Duper :( And after he fought so hard to come back! Everyone clearly loves him, the standing ovation was nice. Talking about telling his kids, ouch. If he can come back this year? "This team's gotta win in the playoffs to give me time. To come back and win with them. ... Pretty sure I'm playing hockey again this year." Duper <3 Win it for Duper.
It was a great idea to mic up Sill, because I've noticed that the players they mic up often score, like Duper in his first game back. It didn't work for Sill, but one day! Comeau got a hat trick instead, and Comeau and Sill seem to be good friends. Sill seems like a loud guy on the bench. Chirping Bozak, and then "Is he a good guy? Bummer," heh.
Downie had a very deep mumbling bass voice in his solo segments, but less in his last scene with Geno. Geno <3 Betting with Downie about shootouts in practice, saying Downie has bad hands and accusing him of bribing Flower <3 And "I don't know how he win 300, is surprise to me." Geno best.
So how to make this episode extra adorable? Show a Christmas scene with Kuni and his family in which his kids call him "chocolate monster" and he kisses his littlest one. Aww.
Next episode: more people get hurt, Sid and Beau (of course Beau got it, of course) get the mumps, we meet the call-ups, and the Pens continue to win games for some reason. At least so far! I'll still be a fan of this team when they lose more than they win, but this is really nice.
