SGA 2x14 Grace Under Pressure
Aug. 20th, 2011 01:44 amMuch, much better! A lot of (claustrophobic) fun.
Taking the time to introduce Griffin before killing him off was a great idea. Tomatos! The Barcelona McKays! Hee.
Great acting from everyone. How Rodney and Sam played against each other was wonderful, and there was half an episode of it! Wheee!
Basically the whole episode is a character study, and a very well done one. Still liking Rodney more and more. Petty, arrogant, and bad with people, but he's brave, too.
A few too many scientists standing around, but whatever. Loved John's determination and Elizabeth's support.
Also, whale! I bet it was fluid dynamics whale :)
Apparently I have less to say about episodes I liked. Or maybe that's just because it's way past my bedtime and I should be asleep. I'm too tired right now to do a character study.
No Ronon and Teyla, sadly, but they wouldn't have fit in here.
I listened to the audio commentary, too. I was excited because it had David Hewlett and Amanda Tapping, but they hardly got to say anything because the other two (Martin Wood and Martin Gero, I think?) talked so much. Interesting, but the actors were funnier.
And I really want to see that Sam-talking-to-the-whale scene they apparently cut... Maybe on youtube or somewhere.

Date: 2011-08-20 04:03 am (UTC)I quite like this episode. I particularly enjoy the ways Rodney tries to interpret his own thought processes as manifested in an artificial conversation.

Date: 2011-08-20 10:25 am (UTC)(That said, the little film about the stunts is great. Especially the end where Rachel Luttrell sits there calmly and says it's a very physical show, while David Hewlett and the stunt director are fake fighting in the foreground. Hee.)
Yes, Rodney was great in this one. "I'm arguing with myself about who had an idea first. I really am petty." Awww.

Date: 2011-08-21 08:06 pm (UTC)(That reminds me, didn't you have an icon with Rodney and the words "Look at me still talking when there's science to do"? I found "Still Alive" recently and got all sorts of interesting associations... ^^)
