I really liked the Maximoff twins in the movie. Less for rational reasons, more because they were pretty cool, especially Wanda's powers. (Pietro's, as usual, were pretty inconsistent and not as powerful as they could have been.) Also because I really love sibling relationships.

I've been thinking about the backstory that the movie gave, which is supposed to explain their motivations and imo does it insufficiently. I'll definitely have to watch the movie again to make sure I catch everything. I'd also love to talk about their pasts and where they come from and what Sokovia might be, but I think I'll have to do a bit of research first. And then I'll work on coming up with headcanon that makes sense for me.

Question: How old do you think the twins are in the movie? The actors are 24 and 26, but with Hollywood's "these twenty-year-olds are totally teenagers" rules I kind of thought they were meant to appear younger, maybe 19-20. (The younger they are the easier their naivety is to explain.) But around 24/25 would make sense: Iirc they said they were kids when the bombs fell, and they were old enough to read. Is it meant to be related to the NATO bombing of Kosovo? That was in 1999. Or a separate bombing by unknown?

Did they volunteer immediately afterwards? That would mean the experiments started when they were very young and went on for a very long time. I think the movie is set in 2015, so +/- 15 years. Ouch.
