Procrastinating as usual. (I saw "Black Wolves" by Kate Elliott in the bookstore yesterday and was proud of myself for not buying it to read immediately. Low standards.) Have some belated Doctor Who thoughts.

I skipped episodes 3 and 4 because I was very much not in the mood for ghosts. I liked the Viking village, and I mostly liked the Zygon episodes (execution could have been better, but I enjoyed it, also yay Osgood!) The sandmen was okay – only my impression or were there many dream-focused creatures etc. recently? Then: season finale.

Diagon Alley! Kinda ^^ So the Timelords asked Ashildr to trap the Doctor and promised to keep her street safe. I guess they asked her because she's one of the few known associates of the Doctor (she must have told someone, I guess) both able and ruthless enough to do it. How did Ashildr learn that Rigsy could contact the Doctor?

Clara! Her death was beautifully done. And in the meantime she's still having adventures! I really grew to like her. Also she's very attractive especially with her hair open.

Four and a half billion years, whoa. At least the Doctor only always realized what was happening in the last few minutes (but how long did he spent in every iteration, several days?) At first I thought the diamond wall also reset itself, in which case his actions would have been completely futile. My first guess was that Missy was behind it btw.
I thought he didn't tell the Timelords what they wanted to know because the knowledge of the hybrid was dangerous, instead apparently it was to save Clara? If I understand correctly, he thought he needed the perceived advantage of being necessary because only he knew about the hybrid for the Timelords to let him into Gallifrey. When in fact he didn't "know" anything at all, he only had theories. He's a legend on Gallifrey too, he might have been able to just walk inside and get them to take Clara anyway. The Gallifrey parts were a bit confusing.

Why is Ashildr the last immortal and not someone like Jack? Makes no sense. Iirc the Doctor made her immortal with advanced medical nanites or something like that, why wouldn't anyone else have them? I'm not yet completely convinced by her, but I think her and Clara could be an interesting combination eventually. I'm not a big fan of the American Diner, I hope they can figure out the Chameleon Circuit.

Seriously, the Doctor and Clara as the hybrid? I didn't buy it for a second, but the Doctor seemed really afraid of it for it just being a theory. The ending did show nicely why what he did to Donna was so terrible. Poor Doctor though. (Clara why did you go along with it?)

River, hi River! Always great to see her. I enjoyed that episode, and I enjoyed the portrayal of her and the Doctor's relationship. Of course River occasionally steals the TARDIS to have adventures!

Perfect coda to that episode: Halfway Out Of The Dark by [personal profile] purplefringe is a beautiful and warm Christmas Special vid.
