schneefink: Babylon 5 (Bab5)

Finally I have time for Bab5 again! Let's see if the next few episodes finally have something positive for one of my favorite characters! …oh no.

Movements of Fire and Shadow: I like Vir asking Franklin and Lyta for help, and I almost cheered when Lyta asked for money. Hell yeah, you go girl, done doing favors for free. I was a bit surprised by how aggressively she read the Drazi and even forced one to kill themselves, there was a time when she'd have been horrified by that.
Sheridan enters the White Star fleet into war and only tells Lochley several hours later? Reckless and stupid. My estimation of his abilities and suitability as president of the Alliance keeps sinking.
What were those weird aliens experimenting on Londo that he dreamed about? They don't look quite like the Drakh. Poor Londo, the regent apparently gone crazy, the defense ministry doesn't believe him (how did they not notice so many ships missing? Who built them?), and now Centauri Prime is attacked.

The Fall of Centauri Prime: Poor Londo :( All the power but no choices, so really only the appearance of power. He talks with G'Kar one last time before having a Keeper attached to his neck, he says his behavior might change but doesn't mention the blackmail. Probably afraid that if G'Kar or anyone else makes a fuss they'll be killed. G'Kar can't forgive the Centauri, but he can forgive Londo. They've come so far! Their relationship is so great.
Londo begs the Drakh to save Delenn – no power :(
The Drazi and Narn attack Centauri Prime against Sheridan's orders, and when he catches up with them he doesn't attack them to make them stop because the Centauri fleet will be back soon and they'll need to defend themselves. Though wouldn't the White Stars firing on the Drazi and Narn prove that they acted without authorization? It would most likely destroy the Alliance, that's probably why Sheridan wasn't willing to do it.
Lennier confesses to Delenn that he loves her when they think they'll be dead the next second. (For some reason during their scenes on the half-dead ship I kept thinking of an AU where Lennier gets turned into a vampire who can only feed from Delenn and he almost dies because he doesn't want to hurt her.) Delenn pretends she didn't hear and only says she felt complimented. Lennier is sad, but still the best.
Centauri will become isolationists, with the exception of Vir staying as an ambassador on Babylon 5. Hopefully they'll eventually defeat the Drakh.

The Wheel of Fire: Huh, the fall-out from Garibaldi's alcoholism relapse wasn't as bad as I thought (probably because Sheridan didn't know in detail just what he screwed up.) Hopefully Lise can help him, and I like that Lochley tried.
Soo Lyta has decided she gives no fucks anymore and takes over a room full of people when Zack and Lochley try to arrest her for financing terror acts against Psi-Corps. Sheridan is unaffected because of his history with Vorlons and knocks her out, unfortunate. She could probably break out of the cell easily, the question is where she'll go. Garibaldi finally asks her for help with Bester's block and offers his expertise and Lise's money, and Lyta tells him his side of the bargain first and she'll remove the block in two years. Cold.
Seriously, though, what did they expect? Someone, I forgot who, asks what might have changed her – the wars, losing Byron… yeah, how about after saving the galaxy, and then Earth for an encore, she got no thanks and no support, was forced to go back to the Psi-Corps, when she finally found what she considers her people they were killed, the Psi-Corps is hunting telepaths to imprison and/or torture and nobody seems to do anything about it and she's the only one with the resources to help them, and her "friends" on Babylon 5 are ready and willing to send her to Earth and back into the hands of the Psi-Corps. No wonder she "snapped." A superweapon constructed by the Vorlons, I wonder when she realized? And how much it influenced her new disregard of boundaries.
Poor G'Kar, hounded by Narns who misunderstood his message. Lyta and G'Kar going exploring together is a cool option.
Delenn is pregnant! I'm cautious, let's see how it goes.

Objects in Motion: Hi Number One! I liked the background on how Mars is struggling with independence, internally and with Earth, Earth now fighting with bureaucracy instead of weapons. Her becoming chief of intelligence for the Alliance is a neat idea, and the faces of the company's Board members were great. Of course Garibaldi can deal with them.
G'Kar and Lyta leave – Lyta thinks he just wants to protect his assets, I really really hope either show or fic gives good G'Kar & Lyta friendship. Garibaldi gets married and leaves, Franklin will leave, Sheridan and Delenn will leave soon, Londo and Susan are already gone. That's the whole original crew… Times are changing.

LYTA DESERVED ALL THE MONEY. AND ALL THE SUPPORT SHE DIDN'T GET. AND WAS COMPLETELY JUSTIFIED IN ALL WAYS BECAUSE EVERYONE ELSE TREATED HER HORRIBLY. Ahem.

Sheridan as President ... ahahaha nope. The only reason it wasn't Delenn, imho, was that he was the war hero and people get paranoid about Minbari.

The Fall of Centauri Prime hurts in all the best ways.
