Agent Carter season 1
Mar. 8th, 2016 01:32 amIt's 1:30am and I just finished binge-watching the first season of "Agent Carter." I watched the first episode the day before yesterday, the second one yesterday, and I had a vague idea of watching an episode a day but then stopping became difficult. I enjoyed it a lot.
Things I loved:
- PEGGY CARTER. She's so great. All season she struggles to be acknowledged and then in the last episode where Thompson gets her accolades she pretends it doesn't matter so it hurts less, oh Peggy.
- Peggy and Angie, Angie didn't have that much screentime but it was so nice that Peggy had a friend.
- Jarvis, and Peggy and Jarvis. Their slow getting to know each other, Peggy drawing out Jarvis' adventurous side, and in the end Jarvis saying he'll always be willing to help, aww.
- Howard was great. An arrogant jerk who made many bad decisions, but not fundamentally a bad person and he tries to make some things right. I really liked his relationship with Peggy, how important it was for her that he values her so highly, how that makes it hurt so much when he uses her but she still can't lose him. And Howard and Jarvis, dammit Howard I hope you intended Jarvis to understand that if Peggy hadn't reached you you would have wanted Jarvis to shoot you down because you couldn't have lived with the alternative and you know it. I liked the background between them, it's a good reason for Jarvis to be loyal to Howard, and later he got to know him as well.
- Sousa: I liked Sousa pretty much from the beginning, and when he knocks out Fennhoff with his ears plugged I cheered. Yess very smart! I like how Thompson respects Sousa more and more, and I really like Sousa's relationship with Carter. (I saw season 2 spoilers, looking forward to that!)
- By the end of the season I liked Thompson more than I thought I would, especially because we meet him as an expert in "interrogation", i.e. torture, and he's later extremely condescending towards all women. I really liked his backstory and him and Peggy in the episode with Dum-Dum. He's a jerk, but not an irredeemable one.
- Dottie Underwood, fuck yeah. I was spoiled on her being a villain, but it was still a great reveal. The Red Room - or here Leviathan, I suppose - is scary. I found it especially creepy that Dottie still wears her handcuffs. I liked that Dottie, with her superior training, is clearly better than Peggy at spying and fighting, Peggy just had a bit of luck at the right time. (Also btw if we ever see Peggy do any kind of training, like the push-ups Howard mentioned, that would be great, because she is in excellent shape and she has to maintain that somehow.)
- Fenhoff's hypnosis is scary - and that combined with Zola! Bad news, very bad news.
I'm looking forward to watching season 2 soon :)

How many like her are there? We saw at least a dozen other girls, some more must have survived the training, and there may even have been other facilities. Careless of Fenhoff to leave one girl in the facility for the Americans to discover, what was that meant to accomplish?
