Agent Carter 2x05+2x06
Mar. 9th, 2016 01:27 amIf I liveblogged or livetweeted it would be for episodes like this. These last two were FUN.
"The Atomic Job": Break-in into a lab to steal nukes, presenting the team: Peggy, Daniel, Jarvis, Rose, and Dr. Aloysius Samberley, fuck yeah. Rose knocking out a guard, Samberley guilt-tripping Sousa into letting him come along, Daniel telling Jarvis defusing bombs is just like taking out a soufflé xD
A Peggy - Whitney fight, and Peggy gets seriously injured. Ouch. Although to be very honest I kind of like that she doesn't always get away uninjured, that would be an unbelievable amount of luck.
About the love stories: I was sure pretty much from the beginning that Wilkes would die because of his involvement in the case. I didn't know what they were going to do with Violet, but I had a few suspicions. "I realized you still love Peggy because you were worried about her when she got hurt" is not one I was hoping for. What, he can't be genuinely concerned about a friend? If it was about how he's acting during her recovery, even that would be better. Sure, I guess it's possible she recognized his exact emotions immediately, but it's difficult to buy for me. Oh well, I'll see how that develops.
Then, "Life of the Party": where Peggy breaks out Dottie Underwood to help her take on Whitney Frost, YES. Dottie and Peggy are so great together. Of course Dottie didn't have any problems carrying out her assignment; unfortunate for Peggy that Dottie realized something strange and very important was going on.
Dottie witnessed Whitney taking over the Arena club council, I'm pretty sure Whitney immediately became one of the very few people she's scared of. And now she's Whitney's prisoner, uh-oh. Though Dottie being overpowered by Jack Thompson is a bit weird, maybe just a lot of bad luck.
I liked that when Daniel told Peggy that Violet broke off the engagement because she thinks Daniel is in love with Peggy, Peggy doesn't ask him if it's true but apologizes for complicating his life.
Jack! Hello there! I'm still not sure how much he's actually being sincere when talking to Vernon and how much he's keeping his options open. Jarvis' talk to him, warning him that he's in way over his head, was great (as was the tip about baking powder and "everybody knows that" ^^), as were Daniel and Peggy's immediate "NO!" when Dottie offered to kill him. Jack doesn't want to take Peggy down, not even her reputation, even though she really hurt him the last time they fought and he's ashamed she knows his darkest secret. I think at this point he also believes the Arena club people are so powerful that Peggy doesn't stand a chance. She is betting everything she has that she's right, but even if she is that doesn't mean that she'll win.
Going to bed now instead of watching Pens-Islanders because every time I watch a night game I'm reminded that sleep is great. Sleep is wonderful. Currently I regularly wake up before my alarm goes off and then don't manage to get out of bed for an hour, sometimes more; not ideal but I'll figure something out.

Date: 2016-03-09 05:17 pm (UTC)I'm not sure how I feel about the love triangle this season. I wasn't really rooting for either Sousa or Wilkes; my heart is (and possibly always will be) terribly attached to the comics canon where Peggy marries Gabe Jones.

Date: 2016-03-09 08:03 pm (UTC)I wasn't entirely happy about how they handled some elements of the love triangle, but overall I was fine with it and at least nothing went terribly wrong in a way that lessened my enjoyment of the show overall.
