In my experience, most cooking shows are not as much fun as GBBO. The American competition ones tend to ramp up the ~reality tv bitchiness, which doesn't really interest me. There are some interesting food documentaries on Netflix (if that's something you have access to) - I really liked Cooked, with Mark Pollan.
