Tomorrow: ice cream (hopefully)

Today:
- I bought a freezer! They had them at Hofer since yesterday and DD and I had to go to three different stores until we found one left. Soon I can finally buy ice cream reserves!
- I finally tried out the Citybike system. The bikes are nothing special, but there's a stop two minutes from my house and I think it'll be convenient on occasion. I should get my mom's bike helmet, she doesn't need it in Bolivia.
- I wrote almost 2k and finished the D&D session summary, the longest so far. Someone has to do it, and I don't mind, but it's cutting into my story-writing energy. Sure I know what happened, but I still have to put it in words.
- Someone almost ran me over with a car at a crosswalk and my first reaction was to shout "Oida!", that made me feel very Viennese. (Especially as someone who is usually terrible with Viennese dialect. My parents are both from further West, and I'm not good at imitating dialects in general… I do speak Vorarlbergerisch though, which has some similarities with Swiss German and is always fun to surprise people with.)
- I finished watching "Yowamushi Pedal." It's adorable! The rec that made me watch it. I was literally flailing and making high-pitched noises at some points. Team! Friends! Singing!
Some of my favorite things, apart from everything, was that it did such a good job portraying the Hakone team that I wanted them to win too. But there can only be one! At least Hakone technically won the fall race I think, since Makishima didn't race the first day and therefore didn't count.

Date: 2016-08-03 12:57 am (UTC)Sometimes this can be fun.
I know that I really enjoyed feeling Kansas Citian at several points while I lived there (although part of that was also critiquing Kansas City (both KS and MO, it is a region in two parts of the USA) and wanting it to be better)...and I have enjoyed walking around Portland, OR, USA and think I will enjoy doing more of this, even though it will be complicated for me to begin developing an identity of myself as a Portlander (due to being an arrival to a region that is currently suffering from having too many new arrivals, and ethnically U.S. white in a region that has historically been very hostile to U.S. blacks and oppressive to Native Americans despite the large local population).
>> My parents are both from further West, and I'm not good at imitating dialects in general… I do speak Vorarlbergerisch though, which has some similarities with Swiss German and is always fun to surprise people with <<
Fascinating.
>> I should get my mom's bike helmet, she doesn't need it in Bolivia. <<
Makes sense.

Date: 2016-08-04 02:28 pm (UTC)I just found out the freezer can't be delivered before I go on vacation, so only in three weeks :( Oh well, I'll manage until then.

Date: 2016-08-10 07:22 pm (UTC)I'm very curious what's going to happen next season. If I understood correctly there are still a few months to go in the school year, but the big race is already over. And then next year: lots of new first years, I assume? Hakone has more than enough people, but Sohoku is a rather small club... Looking forward to it.
She's teaching music at a convent school for half a year. Apparently most of the students can't carry a tune, so she has her work cut out for her! Many new experiences, and so far she's enjoying it a lot.
