Ghostbusters

DD and I went to see "Ghostbusters" yesterday. It was exactly as I hoped for: good entertainment and fun. "If you see something, say something" xD
Holtzmann was as great as advertised; at first I was a bit skeptical because in person there's a good chance I'd find her annoying, but by the time she took out two guns and had her action hero sequence I was completely convinced. I liked the other three too and their friendships. Chris Hemsworth/Thor as dumb receptionist Kevin was fun, especially dancing during the credits.
The "science" was fun too – oddly it was only during the after-credit scene that it strained my suspension of disbelief. Before that they needed experimental proof etc, but now they have data, so there should be a lot of controlled experiments and data analysis etc. instead of prepping for new ghost hunts.
During the big fight I thought that this was unexpectedly dark, with so much collateral damage, but apparently everything got magically repaired… Lucky. (Someone wrote the AU where that doesn't happen, right?) What about the people who died? (Speaking of, does Erin at least feel guilty that the old skepticist died because she let herself be goaded into a huge breach of safety protocols? Seriously.)
Apart from that though, which is at least deliberate, at first viewing the movie doesn't do anything so obviously stupid as to distract from the entertainment, which is important and which surprisingly many movies/shows don't manage.
There is at least one vid already, Cheap Thrills by
such_heights. Composed entirely of trailer footage, but I don't think I'd have noticed.
