Things I like:
* I love friendship/found family fic. Characters who grow to like each other, trust each other, and eventually would do many things for each other, yes please. Especially when they're in slightly different positions/places/there are obstacles etc.
* Related to that, navigating relationships: how do they deal with daily life, how do they support and comfort each other at the end of the day, how do they solve conflicts, what happens if there are conflicting loyalties? I'm a big fan of loyalty, betrayal, sacrifice, and related tropes.
* Some other things I love: h/c, competent characters, hugs, plot, happy or at least optimistic endings, …
Things I don't like for Yuletide:
* Stories with a very dark or hopeless ending, explicit rape
* Character bashing
* Stories focused on harlequin romance tropes or explicit sex. If you want to write low-key flirting or romance that's fine.
* Different world AUs, like coffeeshop AUs or Harry Potter fusions. I love the canon worlds of all these fandoms so I'd prefer to read fic taking place there.

Natsume Yuujinchou – Natsume's Book of Friends
Characters: Natsume Reiko, Natsume Takashi, Madara "Nyanko-sensei"
If you don't know what it is: "Natsume Yuujinchou" is the story of young Natsume Takashi, who can see spirits (youkai or ayakashi.) For that reason he's often been considered odd or crazy, and since his parents died many years ago he's been moved from foster family to foster family. At the beginning of canon he moves in with the Fujiwaras, distant relatives. He also inherits the "Book of Friends" from his grandmother: a collection of names of youkai his grandmother Reiko defeated that can be used to control them. Natsume decides to start giving the youkai their names back. In the process he acquires a "bodyguard", a powerful youkai named Madara who spends most of his time in the form of a fat cat. Natsume eventually makes friends, human and youkai both, becomes more secure of his place with the Fujiwaras, and learns more about the world of the youkai.
The anime is wonderfully warm and has great characters, friendships, and h/c. (My spoiler-y review of the first four seasons.) The new season just started and so far it looks great :)
Prompts: I would love for Natsume Reiko to meet her grandson, and vice versa. What does Reiko think of her grandson, who's such a weak fighter and even gives back the names she collected, but has also managed to make good friends? What does Natsume think of Reiko when he finally meets her? How do Natsume's youkai friends react to meeting Reiko again – Hinoe, Misuzu, especially Madara? What do Natsume's human friends think? What do the Fujiwaras think (does Shigeru recognize her?) If you want, it could also be fun to confront Reiko with various exorcists.
I know Reiko is said to be dead, but surely there's some secret time travel magic, or time-crossing communication devices, or maybe you'll come up with something else. I have a slight preference for young Reiko, but if you want to write an older version, one who's already had her daughter, that would be fine too.
Alternatively, I'd also love fic about Natsume and Madara's relationship, especially the mutual protectiveness. I also like Taki and especially Tanuma a lot (pairing-wise I prefer Natsume/Tanuma.) Maybe Natsume and Taki, maybe with Tanuma, finally go visit Kai? Maybe other known or unknown youkai show up and adventures happen?
I've only watched the anime, so please don't include things one would need to read the manga to understand.

If you don't know what it is: "Nirvana in Fire" is a revenge drama taking place in fictional ancient China. Twelve years ago the Commander of the Chiyan army was falsely accused of conspiring with the Crown Prince to rebel against the Emperor. The Crown Prince was killed and the whole Chiyan army massacred. Twelve years later the general's son Lin Shu, now unrecognizable because of poison, comes to the capital to restore the name of the Chiyan army, get revenge on those who betrayed them, and to help his childhood friend, the disfavored prince Xiao Jingyan, onto the throne.
The show has plots and conspiracies and court intrigues, fantastic identity porn with bonus loyalty kink, amazing characters, competent characters, and so much more.
You can find the show online for free with English subtitles here, and a good & more detailed rec post here. I only recently finished watching it, you can find some of my thoughts (without the wordless flailing) under my NiF tag.

Jingyan was lonely when the drama started, then he gained a friend, realized his childhood best friend had come back, and then lost him again. I don't like to think about him being lonely and sad as an Emperor & I don't want to. Show me Jingyan moving on and Jingyan with friends, please. Anyone: the ever-loyal Zhanying, Meng Zhi, Tingsheng, Mu Quing (Jingyan could unofficially mentor him?), Yan Yujin and Xiao Jingrui, his wife, his mother, maybe before his death Mei Changsu told Lin Chen and/or Fei Liu to check up on Jingyan, that could be fun. Or Gao Zhan, Marquis Yan, the ministers Shen Zhui and Cai Quan… Jingyan learning how to be a good Emperor would also be very nice.
Xiao Jingrui is another one of my favorite characters. He's so nice! He's not a genius, but he's not stupid either, and he tries his best. He has lots of relationships with other characters that I find very interesting: with Yan Yujin, with his mother, with his brothers, the Zhuos, Mu Nihuang, Xia Dong, Mei Changsu…
I would love to see more of Jingrui, and of these relationships, especially post-That Birthday Party. He won't be able to keep living like he did before, because of what happened and because of what he learned. What kind of trouble does he get into and who helps him out of it? And/or the other way around, him helping other people. Eventually Jingrui will have to decide what he wants to do with his life, and it won't be easy, but he'll have help.
I'd be happy with fic about one of the two & their friends – this show has so many amazing characters, I like all of them – but Jingyan and Jingrui friendship would be a very nice bonus. If you don't want to write fic set post canon that's fine, but I'd prefer no fic set exclusively pre-Meilin.

If you don't know what it is: This fantasy series currently consists of three books: Fire Logic, Earth Logic, and Water Logic. It takes place in Shaftal, a country recently conquered by the invading Sainnites, and the relationship between the two groups and how they might live together in the future plays an important part. The books have great h/c, interesting characters, relationships both platonic and romantic that I like a lot – including many gay and lesbian relationships and great found family – and also an intriguing if slightly vague magic system.

Prompts:
I would love fic about Medric pre- and/or during book 1: a seer who grew up in a society that usually kills anyone with Elemental blood, who showed himself useful early enough to survive and helped his commander kill many people, who is trying to understand and come to terms with his visions, which side he's on, and what his own future will hold. In canon he only has very vague visions of Emil and his future family, but feel free to expand on that a little and give him more if you want :) The exact scope of his abilities is never clearly described anyway. I also love his relationship with Emil: both scholars who'd prefer not to fight, enemies at first, clearly soulmates. The age difference is interesting too, Emil is almost twice Medric's age.
Or fic about Medric, Emil, and their whole family settling down for the first time. I like Zanja and Emil's relationship a lot, and Zanja and Karis, and Norina and J'han, and all of them together. It would take some time for all of them to become comfortable living together, to grow from pairs and friends into a family who all love each other, and it couldn't have happened without at least some misunderstandings and arguments and fights, especially considering they have people from three different elemental logics. On top of that they had to learn how to raise a kid!, something most of them had little to no experience with.
I also like Garland the cook a lot, especially him taking care of the family, in particular Medric and Emil. The family trying to settle into their new roles, Karis as the G'deon and poor Emil as General, and Garland would try to make their new ugly house feel like home, mainly with food. Medric/Emil/Garland could also be interesting.
