Latest D&D session:

- We have a very powerful magical ally, who unfortunately cannot leave her current place in the city's canalization. (Fixing that is the reason why we were after the magical artifact in the first place.) We, or most of our party, thought we had a one-time only and time-delayed method of contacting her from a distance in an emergency. Last time we found out that not only could we repair the device with a simple Mending spell to use it again, but our party psionic could contact her any time he wants and forgot to inform us of that little detail. At least we're now communicating with her, which is extremely useful.

- We were in a dwarf village with dwarves who are under a powerful spell: They're undead but they don't know it, and their memories reset approximately every 24 hours. They're dwarves, so they have weapons, our DM hinted, and we could buy some. Weapons and items are unfortunately expensive and our DM is very stingy with monetary/gold loot. We then got the idea of offering them a down payment and offer to pay the rest tomorrow or in installments, and to pay to borrow an item instead of buying it. I don't know why the DM thinks we might have dishonest intentions… In related news, I now have a type IV bag of holding and spent 250 GP.

- We want to convince the extremely powerful shape-shifter spider lady, who also seems to have some means of controlling the very powerful three-headed dragon, that she can't defeat the approaching army alone and that she should let us help find another way to protect the magical artifact. Spider lady said she'd meet us halfway up the upper mountain, where many beasts live, and also we should collect the venom of either a gargantuan scorpion or a huge snake lady. If we can't even do that we're obviously not worth allying with. Not completely unreasonable.
So we're sneaking up the mountain so as not to attract other monsters on our way to scorpion&snake. Unfortunately we're discovered by three large creatures running our way. My character, not being stupid (and me as a player because I don't like combat-only sidequests) wants to avoid the fight. She remembers she knows an illusion spell, maybe she could use that to scare the monsters away. What might they be afraid of? Why, maybe the giant dragon that lives on the mountain. The dragon illusion works very well!, the monsters run away.
Except, remember how we were trying to sneak up the mountain quietly? Yeah… Most creatures have run away, except the scorpion and the snake lady, who we were hoping to surprise and subdue in their sleep, are now wide awake and aggressive and already almost killed my poor beetle familiar who I sent ahead to scout. Well done me. Next time, combat.
At least the DM said the spider lady is entertained.

Several people are requesting D&D for Yuletide, and the letters I saw said "basically anything." I've been meaning to write fic for my character, maybe this will finally motivate me. It wouldn't be very anonymous, but, eh. In the meantime I at least enjoy writing the summaries.
