Dear self:

1) Any sane spaceship captain would park their ship outside the atmosphere.
(This captain might only be mostly sane, but she´s not stupid.)

2) This means that the arrival of said spaceship doesn´t cause any sound.

3) If a spaceship (parked outside the atmosphere) obscures the sun, it must be a very very huge spaceship. This one isn´t.

4) Even if the spaceship is, when seen from the planet, directly in front of the sun, it will not be big enough to provide shade for the people on the planet.

5) If it is directly in front of the sun, it would be a bad idea for the people on the planet to stare at it directly, and they wouldn´t see much anyway.

6) If the spaceship is not directly in front of the sun, it would still be hard to stare at it directly from the planet because the people can´t see it. Not even on a sunny day.
(I´m only 97% sure about this one.)

7) Not randomly giving the spaceship beaming technology when there is absolutely no sensible reason for them to have it is good. Giving them transport ships that take an hour to land on the planet´s surface is mean.

What´s the appropriate expression? Oh yes. YOU FAIL PHYSICS FOREVER.

Also, I had to change the incredibly poetic first sentence I had. Turns out that stupid preposition doesn´t mean what I want it to mean.

ETA:
I asked my little Brother (LB), who is arguably better in physics than I am.
Me: So how would they get down to the planet?
LB: Hm...
Me: They want to be able to get back to the spaceship, too.
LB: Damn. That complicates matters.
Me: I knew it.
LB: Why don´t they simply land the spaceship?
Me: What? It´s a spaceship! It stays in space! And wouldn´t that be horribly complicated? The whole spaceship needs more energy to get off the planet than a smaller vessel, so there.
LB: Well, yes, but the small transport ship would need to have enough of an energy reserve to get back to the spaceship. And that´s a lot of energy. What do they know about the planet?
Me: Um... not much? It´s uninhabited and it´s safe to land there.
LB: How do they know that?
Me: ...Spy satellites!
LB: ...Okay. So can they refuel on the planet?
Me: How should I know? It´s science fiction! I have no idea how their spaceships work! ...but let´s say no.
Dad: They could use a long rope!

I love my family.
