Puchberg am Schneeberg
Sep. 15th, 2019 11:36 pmUsually I always visit my grandparents in the summer. This year I'd planned to visit them in August, but then I spontaneously decided to go to Worldcon so that didn't happen. They'll probably come up for a visit in autumn and I'll see the rest of the family in winter, but, as I told my mom, it's a bit of a shame that I didn't go hiking on any mountains this summer. She promptly organized a day trip to the Alps :) I'm so used to the mountains in Western Austria that I keep forgetting that there's foothills of the Alps not far from Vienna that are actual real mountains (not like the Bisamberg, which is really more of a hill. #WestAustrianMountainSnob)
It was great. We walked for about four hours – the route on the map looked fairly flat, but it turned out they just hadn't bothered marking the constant ups and downs. Parts of the path were still wet and slippery, but in general the mix of sunny and shadowy parts was great for temperature regulation and the weather was perfect. The last half an hour or so I was already pretty tired and just wanted to finally be there already, but for the majority of the hike I had a great time. Now to see how sore I am tomorrow ^^
(Unfortunately I'm not very happy with the pictures I took, otherwise I'd post some, and until I finally get those my mom took I definitely wouldn't remember to write about it.)
