Today is the first session of the campaign I DM :) To celebrate, our previous DM and still-current host got copper-burnished mugs for all of us and 10 liters of mead. Which we started on before ordering food. ...this might not have been the smartest idea. The mead is really good. I should not be drunk while DMing, but it might be too late.
In any case it will be fun. Of my five players three are here (one cancelled on short notice) and they will encounter enemies far above their weight class, let's see if they survive. I also got very pretty new blue dice :)
Currently I'm waiting while the this-time-a-druid finishes building her character, and I'm probably equally impatient and nervous. Let's see if we even get to the quests I prepared ;) I think it will be fun.

We did! As expected, my players did things I absolutely did not plan for - two of them almost got arrested two hours in ^^ And of course they were very interested in things I made up on the spot and now I have a lot of additional worldbuilding to do.

Next time though we'll order food before drinking alcohol xD At least I was very relaxed about DMing. In any case I think it went well :)

Ah yes, players are so very good at falling in love with that random NPC you just mention in passing XD But that's part of the DM fun, I think - it's a challenge to keep the balance between "prepared enough" and "be flexible dammit", and most of the time I enjoy it. Hope you keep having fun! Was this the first time you DM:ed? And yeah, food before alcohol is generally a good idea ;)

I DM'd two sessions before, but those were completely spontaneous and only for two people and never went anywhere. This time the party has five people and I have an actual campaign planned, so it feels very different. I'm glad we're playing 3.5, there are so many online resources for it which helps a lot.
