On a high note

The choir semester has started, and I'm singing soprano now! I've always considered myself mezzo but sung alto 1, partially out of habit and partially because I often find the alto voice more interesting. But at the end of last year our choir leader told me to try out soprano, so I did, and yesterday I had an audition and he said I should stay in soprano :) It's going to be a challenge, but an interesting one, I look forward to it.
In a month we're singing among other things Danklied (Joseph Haydn), Ubi Caritas (Maurice Duruflé), Cantique de Jean Racine (Gabriel Fauré) in a mass, I'm sure it'll be fun.

Oh, cool! Going from alto to soprano is a pretty big change - you must have a fantastic range.

Not really - I'm a pretty typical mezzo-soprano, which means I can pick between singing contralto and not hitting the very low notes and singing soprano and not hitting the very high notes ;)

Ich kenn' die Qual der Wahl mit "was erwisch ich denn dann nicht" aus Eigenerfahrung. Bei meinem aktuellen Chor ist es aber so, daß ich öfter die Höhe beim Alt brauche als die Tiefe.

(Und, ooooh, Ubi Caritas von Durufle, das ist eines meiner Lieblingsstücke. Danke für den Link!)

Bei dem Programm geht's eh recht gut - mal sehen, wie hoch's beim nächsten rauf geht ;) Mich reizt auch mal die Abwechslung.
Ich hab keins der Stücke gekannt, die wir singen, aber sie gefallen mir alle gut.
