Let´s sing evil songs

This is why I love church music: it´s beautiful. It can be everything from magnificent (singing a Mass with an orchestra, and yes, I´ve done that!) to meditative (Taizé songs), from challenging (Heinrich Schütz, I´m looking at you) to easy, and it´s beautiful. And occasionally funny.
Today during Special Occasion Church Choir practice we sang a new version of the "Our Father". Eventually the line "deliver us from evil" was the only one we got wrong anymore, so when our conductor asked if we wanted to try it again, someone said: "I want to do the "evil" part again." Someone else: "Yes, let´s do "evil" again." And while my neighbour soprano and I completely lost it, the others continued with "I think "evil" should be longer" and "we just can´t do "evil" right."
I don´t know if I can translate it right, but it´s even funnier in German: "Erlöse uns von dem Bösen" – "das Böse" ("the evil", or maybe ill?) is a noun, and the others came up with lots and lots of variations.("Wir müssen unbedingt nochmal das Böse machen!") And of course once we calmed down the conductor started to laugh. We practiced in the chancel, too – I´m just glad the priest came by earlier.
(We´re singing during the Long Night of the Churches, and you´re all welcome to come, if you happen to be in the neighbourhood!)
