Shall I Compare
Jun. 14th, 2012 10:28 amYesterday we had our choir concert! Despite a terrible short-program practice concert on Saturday it went very well. The choir had energy, meaning the rhythm and intonation were good (well, mostly: the better I become, the more I hear that some people in the choir are just bad at intonation) and it reached the audience: we got standing ovations :) Members from out choir did the moderation and it was really funny. Some highlights of our program: Spanische Nächte by our men, Waldemar by our women (first performance of this choir arrangement), a version of "Shall I Compare" by Stefan Kalmer, and all of the other songs, too (like You Are the New Day, Follow the Sun, four songs by Mendelssohn...) And we didn't sing that song I complained about :)
The building we were singing in had a large backroom that we used as cloakroom and that doubles as a gallery. A few paintings hung there, and I saw one and thought "That looks like two Hulks, what a coincidence!" Then I found Batman and Captain America.
A.: Do you recognize them?
Me: Yes *proud of self* Except one, and that's Aquaman.
A.: Huh? No, I meant the classical paintings they are based on...
Clearly different priorities. The show was called "The twilight of the superheroes" by Fernando Reyes (most paintings here). Tbh apart from the "Yay comic superheroes!" I didn't like most of them much. (Especially the description that said Superman having S/M sex with Catwoman(? only described as "sex machine") means he's in trouble, has gone insane and was conquered by higher powers, wtf?)
I have an exam tonight and so many other things to do (I hate June), but if I'm a good little student today I can watch the second half of Doctor Who season 4 tomorrow! Back to studying.
