TMA s1: Some Human Remains
Nov. 17th, 2019 10:37 pmI just finished listening to season 1 of TMA and I have lots of feelings! I was so excited about the finale, despite what was going on I was listening to episode 39 with the biggest grin on my face until SASHA :((( I knew it was going to happen, but not when, and the freaky table eating her like that was very unexpected. And her coworkers have no idea!!
I loved getting so much interaction among the archive team in the finale. Jon and Martin had a great conversation, and Jon had some particularly good lines ("I refuse to become another goddamn mystery", and "I'm scared […] it feels like I'm being watched. I lose myself a bit", and "You didn't die here, did you?") And the long pause after Martin told Jon and Tim that he records his own poetry ^^
The episodes before that were also great, I particularly enjoyed for example "Burnt Offerings" and "Anatomy Class". Someone set up such a complicated burning ritual to kill Gertrude Robinson, and it was ruined by someone actually stumbling upon it and breaking a bottle ^^ No wonder they were angry – but the story had a not completely tragic ending, even, since the son survived. Because his dad lit himself on fire…
And meanwhile, at least one group of fake people is taking uni classes on how to fake being human better, uh-oh.
I also enjoyed seeing Gerard Keay again in "Old Passages". And in "Boatswain's Call" Peter Lukas was mentioned for the first time! And I met Melanie in "Skintight", another great episode, and Michael in "A Distortion", and an actual immortal in "Cheating Death." And the hypnotic table and a lighter with a web pattern were delivered to the Archives…
I really look forward to season 2! (I should really finish Yuletide canon review first, and study for my exams – I had little time for that during the choir weekend because I was so tired and just took a nap during our long lunch break – but I'll find the time somewhere.)

"I loved getting so much interaction among the archive team in the finale. "
SO MUCH, AAAAH.
"Jon had some particularly good lines ("I refuse to become another goddamn mystery", and "I'm scared […] it feels like I'm being watched. I lose myself a bit""
Maaaaan, it was SO GOOD to get John's reasonings for his skepticism and why he had to record EVERYTHING. 8D
Anatomy Class is one of my favourites from the first season. XD They just wanna learn how to human and they're trying very hard!
Yessss, do yuletide review and exam study first, haha. The archives will still be there (and waiting) when you finish. :D

Date: 2019-11-18 02:40 am (UTC)God, Sasha is so heartbreaking; she deserved so much better. But I'm so glad we got a little of everyone interacting before she's gone; I love the og Archives crew and I wish they'd all gotten a little bit more of a break than they did in canon.
"You didn't die here, did you?" is one of my favorite moments in the whole show, honestly. XD
"Anatomy Class" is one of those episodes I always think I've hallucinated after the fact, it's so *funny.* ("We do not want your tooth apple.") They just want to learn how the insides work!
Gerard! Peter! Melanie! Michael! (Well, Michael #1.) I can't wait to see what you think of season two.
