schneefink: a tiny person on a huge bird before a dawn sky (Skyjacks griffin)

I listened to the first four episodes of "Skyjacks: Courier's Call", the Skyjacks spin-off, and I mostly liked it. The music and editing was excellent, of course. I liked the characters too, at first especially Cici. She's so supportive of her friends! I love that. Then we found out how little she cares about everyone else, okay, she's fourteen. But then she laughed when that one girl wasn't chosen for an Audron, and I don't care that she said she didn't intend to be mean, she very much was, and I like her a lot less now. She would have forgotten to say goodbye to her family too, ouch.

June's family situation is fucked up. A parent disowning their child for daring to choose a different career path is bad enough, but June is fourteen. And her mother declared it and her father just accepted that? Didn't even try to talk to June again? Wtf. I know that fiction ages work differently than RL ages, and I felt very ready for adventures when I was that age, but still.

I took that scene with the other captains taking June and Kiran's blue feathers as them saying that the captain of the Red Audron owes them a favor of their choosing, not that they can claim them as apprentices at any time.

If "Courier's Call" wasn't set in Spéir, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't continue listening to it. But I do like the world a lot and it's nice to get inspiration for other Skyjacks things, so I probably will at some point. (Also, June and Cici talking about what to do if they don't get chosen made me imagine a crossover where the Uhuru lands in Thornvale and June and Cici and Kiran sneak aboard. They're only a year younger than Jonnit!)

Skyjacks #66:
Again, jokes about how stupid Gable is are not my favorite thing.
Of course Jonnit can't imagine wanting to stop having adventures - he's fifteen! And he's understandably concerned about Travis dying soon once he's mortal, especially because he's used to not taking major injuries that seriously by now and that's a hard habit to break. But eventually he understands that it's Travis' choice. When Travis as one main reason said that the transformation hurts a lot, I was reminded of how early on we saw Jonnit timing Travis' transformations, I wonder how Travis felt about that, especially at first.
Aww, Jonnit offering Travis to go any place he hasn't been before, and Travis wanting to go to Akaron, where Jonnit is from! That could be fun.
"I'm not broken. I can never be broken" uh.
Gable hates serious conversations with Travis so much xD Though, as much as they hate to admit it, they know Travis cares about them, aww.
Gable doesn't want to die but was considering it for Travis, aäsdfkajäsd They really need to talk about this again.
(I think Travis becoming mortal would be very interesting, but ngl I'd be especially disappointed that we never got to see him as a snake.)
"Everyone thinks they're Orimar Vale's best friend, that's how he became the captain." Huh, interesting peek of what kind of captain Orimar was. If he was so social, then him suddenly not talking to anyone but his new "inner circle" must have been especially weird.
I didn't remember Jane at first, but found out that she was hired to the Uhuru in the Dear Uhuru segment of episode #26, and she's an NPC from the Star Wars campaign. I relistened to that segment and the condition for her and her friend Pliff being hired was that they were never to be mentioned again, well that didn't work out ^^
Nodoze and Gable! Nodoze always trust Gable's judgment and would always fight alongside them :) …made a bit harder because Liz is not that much of a warrior/tactician, heh. I love how much Gable trusts Jonnit, but they do seem extremely optimistic… definitely should discuss that with Jonnit before.
