Hades, past the epilogue

schneefinkI quickly went from writing down so many thoughts on Hades, to having too many thoughts and being too eager to play more to bother writing them down. But I have by now figured out how to take a ton of screenshots (though it does kind of break immersion sometimes) and even some clips, so at least I have notes of a kind.
By now, after pretty much exactly one month, I have 135 escape attempts, 30 clears, the highest at 6 heat with the shield and the fists and the fastest in 26:54 with the spear (I'm still using god mode, but at this point only so I can get to more Titan Blood quicker), and I have 75% of the achievements on Steam. More than 118 hours, wtf.
Things I have feelings about:
- Courting Meg. That took me a very long time, because she can be very mean. (And then after Persephone returned the dialogue sometimes didn't seem to reflect that, it was odd.) But recently, after the epilogue feast, I finally forged a bond with her and it was nice :) I really enjoy her interactions with other characters too.
- Achilles and Patroclus are finally reunited! That took a long time.I'm still a little disappointed I don't remember exactly what Patroclus said to tell Achilles early on. According to the wiki, at some point after Patroclus tells him to risk it all Achilles would ask Zagreus to amend his pact; instead, Achilles said he would think about it and then two runs later Zagreus asked Nyx about the pact without Achilles saying anything. The best kind of surprise ^^
I've forged bonds with both Achilles and Patroclus by now and I'm so fond of them both.
- Courting Dusa. I liked the storyline of Nyx disapproving because Dusa is a maid and Zagreus a prince, Zag telling her off, Than initially backing Nyx etc.; lampshading it made it a bit less awkward. Still haven't given her the last couple of bottles of Ambrosia, but mostly because the last few times there was always someone nearby and it seemed kinda awkward to flirt with Dusa with Meg standing nearby.
- I like Artemis so much, and her friendship with Zagreus. She's so fond of him, even though she barely knows him! They've never even really talked! I really want to know how their first meeting at the feast went.
- Speaking of gods meeting at the feast, Athena and Nyx! Athena admitting that sometimes she wishes Nyx was her mother too, aww.
In general I want so much fic about the feast and I haven't seen any yet.
- Zagreus' death messages. At first I was very sad that with Persephone in the Underworld again, he can't survive on the surface for long enough to even make it to her garden, but the death notices became so ridiculous that I've decided they're all mostly lies and he's having a great time on the surface before coming back each time.
- Post-Persephone's return I really like how Zagreus' relationship with his father is developing. Hades is… trying, though he's really not very good at it, which he's aware of. Zagreus told Persephone that he doesn't hate his father, but may always resent him, which, fair enough, but he at least understands him better. I have made him give Hades three nectar bottles by now and I really love their conversations. And their banter during their fights! Hades is evidently very annoyed by the state of Zagreus' room ^^
- I still don't have a favorite weapon. Not even clear favorite aspects! I like Stygius' aspect of Arthur a lot, Varatha's aspects of Achilles and Guan Yu, and all three of Aegis' and Malphon's aspects, but those are also the weapons I've used the most. I still find Coronacht and Exagryph the most difficult to use (aiming is hard!), but I look forward to trying out aspect of Lucifer, I only unlocked that very recently.
- The weapons being upgraded helps, but despite playing on higher heat I'm becoming much faster and I think I'm just getting better. Still not fast enough for Tight Deadline, but getting there! I haven't tried Extreme Measure yet because Meg once ~told Zagreus not to, but now after the feast, and after getting a new prophecy to defeat Theseus on EM3 for Poseidon, I'll probably try it out soon and look forward to it.
Duo boons are the most fun: I've had some great experiences with e.g. Cold Embrace, Deadly Reversal, Crystal Clarity, Mirage Shot, Calculated Risk, Blizzard Shot, Exclusive Access, Scintillating Feast, Sea Storm…
- I'm still not using my summons much because Dusa's was not that helpful, I felt almost guilty about using Than's because of a comment he made once, and I wanted to be on better terms with Meg first, but the past two runs I summoned Achilles and Patroclus for help against Theseus and Asterius and that was fun.
- I have managed to catch a legendary fish only twice, and it was the same one *sigh* I want to catch all the fishies!
- The game is so pretty! I still occasionally discover new details I just hadn't noticed before.
- No bond forged with Skelly yet because I found the prank where he asked Zagreus to give him a final death, except after Zagreus complied it turned out he was joking, pretty cruel, and Zagreus is a forgiving person but that doesn't mean immediate so I'll probably wait a bit more to give him ambrosia.
- I still haven't given Sisyphus more than two nectar bottles, mostly because early on I read some fic prominently mentioning his imprisonment of Thanatos ^^ I probably will soon though.
- Speaking of fic, there's quite a bit I've enjoyed a lot, and I should make a rec list, except I'm too busy playing.
