Spring weekend

schneefinkThis weekend we had wonderful spring weather, so DD and I finally used the picnic blanket! Twice, even. It was great, we need to do that more often. But probably not soon, because the weather report predicts much colder temperatures and rain again. April weather indeed.
The exam last week went okay (I think.) This week will be very busy at work, which I would be less worried about if I wasn't still feeling bleh, which is annoying.
I donated to AO3 for a set of rainbow kudos stickers, I might finally put a sticker on my laptop.
On Friday I watched the finale of the last Hermes Cup, a Hades speedrunning competition. The interview with Greg Kasavin and the third place race were good, and the finale was a fantastic race, I do not regret staying up late at all. (The whole video can be watched here on Youtube, here on Twitch with chat, and here a fun clip with the winner's reaction. Chat recommended for fun details like Amir Rao of Supergiant Games commenting during one of Jerds and Haelian's digressions (paraphrased) "now I understand why this is the last Hermes Cup," and, after the VA of Hermes asked Greg Kasavin about the Charon/Hermes ship, the person asking "there's a Charon/Hermes fic?" – yes, there's 176.)
Playing at my own speed, today I finally collected enough Darkness to buy the Chaos theme, I look forward to seeing a victory screen with that. I'm currently trying to get used to Forced Overtime *shakes fist at Asterius*
Instead of a rec list of existing fic, have a list of Hades fics I wish would exist, but don't want to have to write myself:
- the one where Callisto waits for Artemis' return after the feast, worrying about Artemis finally meeting Zagreus, who Artemis considers one of her best friends even though she's never met him. What if Zagreus turns out to be a jerk? (Callisto is definitely not jealous.)
- the one about the girl from the nearby village who becomes friends with the dryad "Nestis" living in her cottage of eternal summer; possibly to be combined with:
- the one where Persephone one night on the surface calls upon Nyx to have a conversation (and Nyx doesn't tell her about Zagreus); possibly to be combined with:
- the one where Persephone decides to come back to the Underworld on her own, only to find out that her son is alive and doesn't know about her. (Except I don't know where the story would go from here.)
- the one where Persephone never left and Zagreus grew up with both parents. When he wanted to visit the surface Persephone arranged for a family banquet many years earlier. However Zagreus then found out that he can't live on the surface, so he still feels trapped. The story would likely be a series of vignettes of Zagreus meeting his relatives in the few minutes he has on the surface before he dies.
- the one where Sisyphus' goal has been to manipulate Zagreus into changing his contract for him all along, only he accidentally started to care for him along the way.
- the one where Zagreus doesn't die on the surface, so when he finds Persephone he stays with her. To keep her hidden, he actually has to visit Olympus too. Everything seems to be going well, but he still doesn't have a domain, he starts missing all his friends from the Underworld, and it would be nice if he could tell his grandmother that Persephone is alive so she stops killing all the mortals.
- the one where some demigod hero makes it to the Underworld and out again, which usually would not be a big problem, except this one tells everyone about the Phlegethon flooding Asphodel and suddenly every mortal wants to be a hero, leading to endless wars. (I like the idea but don't know what the actual story would look like.)
- the one where Zagreus, while still working at the administrative chamber, complained to Hypnos about feeling unsuited for the job. Hypnos says he understands, his job also doesn't have anything to do with his divine domain, and Zagreus decides to try and do something about that. Now Hades, Nyx, and Than are angry at him (Meg too at first, but eventually he manages to convince her), he needs to find a replacement for Hypnos and he needs to figure out how Hypnos could best serve the House.
- the one post-banquet where Megaera finds out that Zagreus still feels trapped in the Underworld. (This part is already pretty much written but I don't know what happens next.)
