For the Fandom Appreciation Challenge at [livejournal.com profile] sga_saturday, three and a half SGA rec list recs, because a) reccers don't get enough love, and b) rec lists help you find so many shiny things!

SGA fic recs - main list by [personal profile] astridv, with links to more parts; despite the name, also has fanart, vids etc.
I like this list because the recs are sorted by length, list genre, main characters, and pairings, and a short note about why she liked it. And also because it seems that [personal profile] astridv and I have similar taste, which is most convenient. Last updated March 2010, more recent recs to be found tagged on her journal.

Alternate Universe Recs for Stargate: Atlantis by [personal profile] ratcreature
I love AUs, so it's no surprise that I very much enjoyed reading through this list. It's not overwhelmingly McShep-heavy, which is also nice. Story length, genre, pairing, and a short description/why she likes it are included. Last updated January 2012.

"Greatest Hits" Rec Post by [personal profile] unamaga
This list has recs divided into random categories, with very few descriptions, but I still rec it because I found so many great things through it (and the random categories made complete sense to me, I do it similarly.) It links to author pages, fanartist pages, and other rec lists too. Last updated May 2008.

And the 0.5: (Newer) SGA fic readers guide / So you're becoming an SGA fic addict... by [personal profile] skaredykat. As the name says, not a fic rec list but a guide for where to find stuff. Also very useful.

Yay! SGA recs. I've never been in a post-canon fandom before. I feel like I've read everything that could vaguely interest me at least twice.

I am still hopelessly besotted with John&Rodney. I also have a soft spot for Rodney/Teyla and John/Rodney/Jennifer. I should branch out more into gen and read all the stuff that's out there, but it's so often action&adventure heavy which bores me without the shippy stuff.

I love vids and fanart, too. I love it all, no preferences.

SGA has a ton of really fantastic gen! And a lot of it has a focus on the relationships on top of the adventure stuff, just without the romance angle. In case you want to branch out into gen, [personal profile] sholio would be a great writer to start with - she's a master at interweaving an action-adventure plot with relationship development.

I know some of sholio's stories and I know there is so much unread good stuff out there. I could just scroll through your recs and find tons of stuff, I know. It's just, I am such a nonsensical and fickle reader. I'm not much for novels in a non-fanish context, I prefer non-fiction to the point of reading historical lexicons for fun. I hate romance novels but I need romance or some sort in my fic. All the gen fic I've enjoyed I was tricked into or tricked myself into by thinking it would turn into ship fic at some point. I love gen fic in the form of podfic because for some reason the change in medium makes it okay. The podfic of "Your cowboy days are over" is amazing, and I would've never read the fic, and I still haven't in fact, without it. I know there's a sequel to the story and I have yet to read and probably wont. Fickle and nonsensical, I tell you.
