DD wanted some Patroclus recs, so here are my favorites. Patroclus/Achilles/Zagreus fics will get their own list eventually.

2k, character study featuring pining and angst
Summary: Patroclus knew three things as he died.
First: If Achilles had loved Patroclus more than his own godsdamned pride, he’d have joined the battle and the Greeks would have won the day.
Second: if Achilles had loved Patroclus more than his own godsdamned glory, they would never have joined the war in the first place. They might have lived out their days together in peace, far from the bloody plains of Ilium. And Patroclus would not have died in a foreign land, alone.
Third: Death had stripped away the pain in his body. The pain in his soul remained.
Why I like it: Wonderful Patroclus voice.

4.8k, Patroclus & Zagreus, missing scene
Summary: Patroclus didn’t understand how someone could supposedly care so sincerely for a person who was essentially a stranger to them.
He stumbled upon a sort of understanding he wasn't expecting when he next saw Zagreus.
Why I like it: Additional tags on this fic: #the tldr on this fic is #Zagreus cares very deeply for Patroclus and is well aware of this and #Patroclus cares very deeply for Zagreus and isnt aware of it until hes ready to fight gods for him. Nice angst and comfort, I really like their friendship.

1.8k, Megaera & Patroclus & Zagreus, gen
Summary: Achilles talks at length about Patroclus, once he's had enough to drink. Megaera wonders if there's anything left of the man he remembers, and decides to find out, with a little help from Zagreus. Pre-reunion.
Why I like it: I hadn't thought about how these two might interact, turns out it's great.

5.4k, Achilles/Patroclus, amnesia
Summary: When he awoke for the first time, it wasn’t unpleasant, per se. He was surrounded simultaneously by a gentle warmth and a brisk breeze, just chill enough to cut through the temperature in a completely innocuous way.
He opened his eyes to find the sky as bright as the sunniest of days (and yet the sun was missing), and to find himself lying on a patch of the greenest grass imaginable. Its fresh fragrance rose on the wind, drawing him to consciousness.
No, when he awoke for the first time, there was no unpleasantness at all: just this deep and unsettling sense that something was *missing*.
Why I like it: Very nice angst and feelings.
