I was going to just post "We're Going to Ibiza", for the memories, but then it took me longer than a few seconds to figure out how to embed a video so I didn't bother.
For context, there's a huge political crisis going on in Austria where, basically, the chancellor was charged to have instigated/known about the finance ministry illegally financing advertisements for him personally a few years ago, including fake polls etc. There were already multiple house searches. (The song is in reference to the previous political crisis that ended the last government two years ago after the vice-chancellor was caught planning illegal party financing etc. with an actress pretending to be the niece of a Russian oligarch while on vacation on Ibiza.) Chancellor Kurz pleads innocent and said he will not step down and probably - hopefully - this will be the end of our current government and we will somehow finally get rid of Kurz, but it's not entirely certain yet. I know it's a big deal and very important and I should be outraged by the uncovered corruption etc. etc. but I just can't be bothered to care much anymore. Yeah, he might be corrupt, that's the complete opposite of a surprise, and if he does manage to stay chancellor I might be mad then, but right now there's so much other bullshit going on, especially world-wide, that my response was basically a shrug and vague gratitude that other people care about this so I don't have to right now.
(I'm using "might be" to keep up the habit because e.g. our finance minister has sued people for less.)
(Also, maybe this means that the planned tax reform that was announced last weekend will at least be delayed, because there might be some good ideas in there but also several elements were clearly not thought through from a practical point of view at all. Silver linings.)

Part of me thinks that I should make sure to keep up to date on the details etc. but there's work and uni and international problems and there's still a fucking pandemic going on and it is already hard to find spoons. (Maybe it's just a brief phase though, since coming back from vacation a lot of things have been rather meh and harder, idk.)

Es ist frustrierend, wie viel leichter das ginge, wenn sich mehr Leute impfen ließen.

Während die Impfung definitiv die Übertragung reduziert und auch die Verläufe mildert, ist sie kein Allheilmittel und sie "immunisiert" natürlich auch nicht vollständig, wie das gerne suggeriert wird. Ich bin inzwischen viel besorgter über das selbstverständliche Ausschließen ganzer Bevölkerungsgruppen vom sozialen Leben (und wenn es nach unserem Arbeitsminister geht, auch vom Erhalt der Arbeitslosenbeihilfe) und vor allem die Wortmeldungen, die diesbezüglich ohne jegliche Reflexion an die Öfentlichkeit getragen werden.

Was auf die Gruppe A anwendbar ist, ist problemlos auch auf die Gruppe B und C übertragbar. Wir sollten es eigentlich wirklich besser wissen.

Das weiß ich schon. Und ja, manche Aussagen über Nichtgeimpfte sind absolut fehl am Platz. Ich würde mir trotzdem wünschen, dass sich mehr Leute impfen lassen.

Leider noch lange nicht endgültig, aber ich will mich wenigstens drüber freuen, dass er nicht mehr Kanzler ist.

I completely understand the outrage-exhaustion. There are so many messed up things going on in the world that even when thing hit close to home they don't fully register anymore - there's just So Many Bad Things happening all the time.

Keeping my fingers crossed that the political situation works out as well as it can, but definitely get how it's a "and then this happened too"-kinda experience. Mentally that's where I too am at re: stuff happening where I live.

He had to step down as chancellor and some people seem to think it might actually end or at least severely damage his political career, instead of just being a short setback, so here's to hoping! It might actually be a good thing! ...right now a potential good thing mostly makes me skeptical at first ^^

Yeah, skeptical is my default too these days, but hope springs eternal! Hope he gets what he deserves!
