So apparently SOMA is the newest game I can't shut up about. (Maybe I should get an icon but I have no idea what would even be on it.)
I'm about halfway through now and the story keeps getting more intriguing, especially because I'm now pretty sure that some things I would have been content to simply ignore/accept on the basis of "video game logic" (healing mechanics etc.) are part of it.
I just found out that original Simon died very soon after the brain scan, and that this Simon's body is the corpse of Imogen Reed, animated by a cortex chip loaded with his brain scan. Half robot half zombie, very cool.
I wonder who made him and why - and if that was the first try... maybe the "monsters" are previous attempts? Okay I'm pretty sure "who" is WAU, since Simon also connects with it regularly and gets new energy from it. But why, and why Simon? Hmmm. If it wanted to fulfil its "mission," that seems like a very inefficient plan, and also why would it have prevented Simon from getting to the Dunbat. Though idk if there were many options.
I'm also watching a walkthrough in the background of areas I've already played for things I've missed. Occasionally it really pays off, e.g. when I was in the bathroom in the living quarters at Theta the lights were turned on so I only saw my hands in the mirror, not the whole body, and that would have been a shame to miss. The red eyes behind the face plate look creepy. I also somehow missed that you could explore more living quarters if you only take the locks off, stuff like that.
I want to find out more immediately but unfortunately there are things like work and sleep and study *sighs*
(Also, I really don't want any spoilers but I also want more content immediately so the urge gets harder to resist every day.)
