I just remembered that I completely forgot to post about Wheel of Time 1x08. Related, as frustrating as it was to have to wait for it, watching The Witcher made me appreciate anew that Wheel of Time came out weekly. Having time for anticipation and speculation etc. between episodes is a lot of fun.

By now even though I've never read the books I've found out quite a bit about what happens in them, but I'm deliberately trying to ignore that knowledge to focus on TV canon only because it leaves more possibilities (except when it's more fun to do otherwise.)

The one thing I thought didn't make any sense was Nynaeve telling Lan about Moiraine's "tell." What's that supposed to be? They didn't go into specifics because they knew it doesn't make sense. I assumed that previously Nynaeve tracked them via the wind, because, among other reasons, how could she have tracked Moiraine by her tells when Moiraine was unconscious. I'm just going to pretend that, idk, Nynaeve could figure out exactly where Moiraine was and give Lan directions, something like that.

But other than that I enjoyed the episode a lot. Rand still looks a bit like Anakin but proved himself a much better person by actually caring about what the person he loves wants, I approve. I loved Rand and Moiraine together a lot, I didn't expect that. Their interactions on the way there, Moiraine refusing to stay back, Moiraine threatening to slit his throat, Moiraine agreeing to his request to cover for his absence, all very nice.

I enjoyed seeing Lews Theris Telamon. The Amyrlin called him "Dragon Reborn," which is fascinating because it means he wasn't the first either, which makes perfect sense – according to the lore as I understand it, the Wheel always turns, so it's unsurprising that he too is a reincarnation. Though someone must have been the first to have received that title. (And what happens if the population grows? Probably not currently an issue given what we saw of Telamon's time, but still, does it have some kind of meaning if there's a new soul?)
It also seemed like the Dark One and Lews Theris Telamon knew each other well, there's possibilities there…

Moiraine being gentled (or at least having her powers sealed for now) is a very interesting development that I love. And it happened while her bond to Lan was blocked and she can't unblock it! Lan finding her was also a great scene.
Moiraine started to suspect that this wasn't the last battle after Rand had already gone, so they might need him again and now nobody knows where he is… (Imo it might be best for him to go to one of the Builders' steadings because it's impossible to channel there, according to one of the animated snippets, unfortunately I don't think anyone told him about those.)

At least "we need to buy our messengers time to alert our allies" is a reason to sacrifice an army in an unwinnable battle. If not for the unforeseen strength of Nynaeve and Egwene, there's no way the plan to destroy the enemy army with channeled lightning would have worked. For a moment I thought Nynaeve might have lost her eyesight, but fortunately not. I'm also glad Min made it out of the city.

So Padan Fain has the horn of Valere now – good thing Perrin knows about it, I was surprised Padan Fain didn't command the Fades(?) with him to kill all witnesses. I'm not sure if Loial is dead or not, let's go with not because that would be a shame.

And then at the end there's a fleet of presumably conquerors?, so that will be a problem for next season too.

I'm very curious how the next season will go. The party is split into even more groups so that will be a challenge. I look forward to it :)

Also, only a few days after deciding to stop playing Hollow Knight for now, I picked it up again and today I played it for four hours. That was not the plan: I originally started playing Castlevania: Aria of Sorrows, only to find out that the keyboard controls are not good, and then I tried Inscryption, but found I was not in the mood for it. So I decided to just play a few minutes of Hollow Knight, just for fun, aaand suddenly it was hours later.

Last time I found the mantis warriors very difficult, but this time for some reason they seemed less hard, and when I found the Mantis Claw I decided that instead of the optional boss fight I'd heard about, the Mantis Lords, I'd go directly to the City of Tears. Which I did, and I had a great time exploring the city. It's beautiful. I stumbled into another probably boss fight that I ran away from for now and instead went back to Dirtmouth and from there discovered the Howling Cliffs. Not sure yet what Cyclone Slash is good for (especially stubborn walls?) but it looks cool. After giving up on the Fog Canyon for now I'm currently exploring a new area in the Greenpath, and after that I want to check out the Royal Waterways that I found (but didn't enter because I was on low health.) Or, if I have enough Geo (doubtful but possible) buy a key and see if I can open that gondola in the Forbidden Crossroads. Or one of the other paths I didn't get around to yet - there are so many options!

I'm deliberately avoiding online guides for now because I'm having fun stumbling around, fortunately the spoilers I already have are all very vague. I know that at some point banker lady will steal my money but in the meantime she should be useful because I do die twice every once in a while/too often. …and that's it, really.
