Hikaru no Go 1-12

schneefinkI had a headache and was so exhausted all day yesterday I took an hour-long nap and then still had to lie in bed with my eyes closed a couple of times. Ugh. At least I'm a little better this morning. Clearly I should work less overtime, though looking at what needs to be finished next week…
DD and I started watching the Chinese live-action version of Hikaru no Go a little while ago, and currently we watch one episode a day as a ~bedtime story, which works very well. We've watched 12 episodes so far and there hasn't been one that didn't make me laugh out loud at least once. (There has also been plenty of facepalming.)
They are such teenagers! Especially Shi Guang. He has many feelings but insufficient awareness of consequences. Although, maybe after this episode? I don't want to get my hopes up too much, but I at least hope he'll manage not to disappoint his mum again. I was glad he finally apologized and managed to properly explain himself and get her (reluctant) support.
He Jia Jia showing up again was such a nice surprise. He was my favorite, and I'm still disappointed – and sad for him – that Shi Guang and Wu Di didn't want him in the club any longer ("for his own good," meh.) He Jia Jia seeing Shi Guang, Wu Di, and Gu Yu after their second round defeat at the tournament and at first preparing to criticize them, but when he sees Wu Di crying he says he is proud of them, is still one of my favorite scenes. I also loved him trying to convince Gu Yu to show up for that game against Shi Guang.
Speaking of Gu Yu, I have become so unexpectedly fond of him, and I feel very sorry for him rn. And for Jiang Xue Ming too (but I'm thrilled that her friends finally officially joined the club too and I hope we will get to see them play more!) I also really like Mr. Bai. Tbh I'm mostly amused by Yu Liang (when I'm not feeling sorry for him) but in a nice way.
And I don't know yet if anyone/who is going to find out about Chu Ying when but I already want all the AUs where it happens sooner.
