Atai town and Sand Drifts
Apr. 1st, 2022 09:41 pmThe March deadline at work finally passed *flops over* I'm so glad I'm on vacation next week because my head is empty.
I didn't have that much time for it, but I'm still having so much fun playing Phoenotopia Awakening. I finished what could probably count as part two (and I could go to the next area, but decided to leave that for after my vacation), and I managed to get DD to play it too which makes it even better. I'm not even done yet and I'm already strongly considering it as a Yuletide fandom.
Sunday: I made it to the Ouroboros outpost! I'm having so much fun. I love the puzzles. Sometimes I needed to write things down to solve them but so far I always have :) Next are apparently (at least) three trials. Almost ten hours played and it feels like I'm maaybe 10-20% in :)
Monday: I passed all three trials in the Ouroboros hideout. I did look something up for the first time: I wanted to know if I could still get into food storage after using the guard key I got to open the jail. Turns out there are more keys to be had after defeating guards, which makes sense, but unsurprisingly I missed those because I tried to avoid fighting the guards as much as possible. Now I need to stock up on food before facing Birdy.
More importantly, DD finished the demo, immediately bought the game, and is having a lot of fun with it :)
Tuesday: I found a chicken for the village :) This and the secret fishing spot near Panselo were spots DD found first, yay teamwork. (Turns out in the demo there is a fishing rod there, so players can try out fishing, and if you then continue into the actual game you keep the fishing rod and do not have to pay for it – convenient!)
More importantly, thanks to many healing items and bombs, I defeated Birdy! Or, more accurately, the Great Drake. First try, too (on easy difficulty.) So the mayor freed Lisa! That exuberant hug was nice, as was Lisa's return to the village. And I finally have a lifesaver so I can float in water, very convenient.
I collected a few more goodies from the bridge and the Sunflower Road, and then instead of heading to Daea – because I decided to wait with that until after my vacation – I went back to the Ouroboros hideout, where I promptly discovered the Secret Railway. It has aggressive robots! Fascinating. Clearly there is plenty more to explore in the early areas.
Wednesday: It took me several attempts to make it past the stakes with arrows challenges under Atai to get to my second Ouroboros scroll, and I was very glad that I only stumbled on this when I can already float – only to find out soon afterwards that DD found the same place but without being able to swim and was even more frustrated ^^ I also found more secret places in the Forlorn Ruins/Ouroboros Hideout and in the Anuri Temple, but after very quickly dying once I again decided to leave the Stone Toad for later. I bought so many extra pockets that I have 17 inventory spots rn, which finally feels like not too few.
There are good reasons why I decided not to go to Daea until after my vacation, and there are still places to discover here (I remember seeing at least one more locked entry to the Secret Railway, and I will need a key for that too, plus the second boxes challenge etc.), but I wanna go to Daea and/or get the spear already *whines*
Thursday: I defeated the Stone Toad! Thanks to plenty of food. And I succeeded at the beginner challenge at the shooting range but it took me many tries and a lot of money, and only afterwards DD gave me the tip to just reload the game after every failed attempt ^^
Friday: I tried the challenges at the shooting range again and I succeeded at the intermediate one, but gave up on the advanced one for now. Aiming with the crossbow is hard.
