I'm feeling better, but still not 100%. I didn't go running this weekend, breaking my thus far perfect streak in 2023, and I know I had a good reason but I'm still annoyed. I'll just have to make up for it later.

Another streak I mean to keep up: monthly fanwork recs. For March, four fics from Yuletide 2019 and 2020.

Yuletide 2020
Do Not Wrestle Against Flesh and Blood by [archiveofourown.org profile] matchsticks_p
Fandom: The Eagle | Eagle of the Ninth
2.2k, Marcus/Esca, post-canon, AU – sex demon Esca
Summary: "What were those signals she made with her hands?"
"Protective wards," Esca replied.
"Protection against what?"
"Oh, you know," he said very off-handedly, "there are those from certain tribes who are frightened of my sex magic."
Though they were standing unmoving, Marcus still stumbled, out of sheer surprise. Esca steadied him with a firm hand. "Your what?"

Marcus has been missing some signs.
Why I like it: Mmm, Marcus suffers so nicely in his confusion.
Canon knowledge necessary: Probably not.

Yuletide 2019
as wine pervades water by [archiveofourown.org profile] betony
Fandom: The Mummy series
2.3k, Evy/Rick, case fic
Summary: The last thing Rick expects to hear, when Evie opens the door at last, is a grim: "Darling, we've got to get married."
Why I like it: Great apocalyptic atmosphere with an ancient Egyption flavor and very funny.
Canon knowledge necessary: rough outline should be enough

cacio e pepe by [archiveofourown.org profile] serephemeral
Fandom: Some Like It Hot
5.4k, multi/poly, post-canon
Summary: It turns out that having the right name and piles of cold hard cash means you can buy almost anything. Happiness, however, isn't for sale, but Daphne is lucky enough to know the recipe.
Why I like it: Lovely, thoughtful exploration of how things could develop further after the end of movie.
Canon knowledge required: rough outline is probably enough

The Tower by [archiveofourown.org profile] SunlitStone
Fandom: The Queen's Thief
1.7k, post-King of Attolia, Gen & Costis
Summary: The gap was five feet across and two feet up. It was not anything Costis would have dreamed of jumping before Eugenides had arrived in Attolia, but as it was, he did not feel he had much choice.
Why I like it: I really enjoy this moment between Gen & Costis, it's very them.
Canon knowledge necessary: Yes
