Limited Life #5

I planned to watch only two or three perspectives of episode 5 of Limited Life and ended up watching almost all of them. Ahem. I am absolutely not overinvested in the Clockers family drama.
I'm very normal about Etho telling the rest of TIES that he's babysitting Bdubs, and about Scar making a "Welcome Home Family" doormat, and Bdubs wanting to be faithful to everyone and everyone suspecting him of betrayal, and about Cleo and Scar telling Grian he could be family i.e. distant cousins, and the awkward family supper, and Etho making his sons play Catch and accidentally killing both of them and Cleo glaring at him afterwards…
I wrote down so many favorite quotes.
Bdubs defending himself to Cleo after TIES renames themselves to BITES: "You said go to your dad's!" - "I didn't say join dad's team!"
Cleo to Bdubs: "Why can't you be normal about Etho?" (…it's Bdubs so that's not going to happen, I already know that much xD)
Cleo to Etho: "If you're going to be an absent father, could you at least be absent?"
Bdubs: "I'm Son of Cleo, First of his name." So Bdubs is the older brother *nods*
Cleo to Scar: "Grian could be your son." Imagine the AU xD
Cleo and Scar to Bdubs, who feels torn between his loyalty to the Clockers and their new alliance with the Bad Boys, and his own new alliance with TIES because TIES and Bad Boys are enemies: "They're our family!" "You don't go against the family." Someone is hopefully writing the mob AU js. Bdubs then says that he'll turn on anyone except Cleo, Scar, and Etho, which the others accept, so we'll see how that plays out…
Etho & Cleo: "I'm happy to be here. I would be here all the time if I was allowed." - "You're allowed. You can stay if you like, Etho, you can be part of the team. You could be a Clocker." - "I could, couldn't I." And that's after their conversation from the week before when Etho was building the road towards Entertainment Mountain and saying he can come home now but not when Cleo's here and asking who could possibly live with Cleo, and Cleo asking who could live without her ^^
Etho at the family supper: "Bdubs, how was your day? You have a good day, son?" And the awkward pause shortly afterwards – as Bdubs put it, real family vibes!
Etho & Cleo, again: "I especially like that Cleo's been quiet, that's my favorite part of this whole supper." - "Again, if you're gonna be an absent dad, you're welcome to be absent. But, you, you know, your presence is… appreciated - by some…"
Cleo during the family dinner, text on screen: "This episode is weirder than the one with the fever… wth is this dynamic?" xDDD
And more Etho quotes: "Kids, do you wanna go play Catch right now? Do you wanna play Catch with your father? May we be excused?"
To Cleo: "You could probably use the break. You look stressed - I mean you're always like that."
To Bdubs: "I got stuck inside. Your mom was having a word with me, you know how she is."
"This is what families are all about, am I right Cleo?" - "Ah… yeah, sure. That's what parents do, they ask you to play with dangerous objects, fun times."
Cleo text on screen when they play Catch with a TNT minecart: "Sometimes children only learn the hard way…"
After Bdubs and Scar die during the "game": "Cleo, I'll let you tuck 'em in."
Cleo: "Murdering children is probably, you know… CPS might get involved if I'll let you around again…" - "They got their exercise though, it was good!" Etho's excuses could use some work ^^
Etho, after Scar hit him: "He's going through his angsty teenage phase, I should leave."
The others were fun too. Grian at the start of his episode: "There's friends to remind who's boss" looking at Scar xD and later saying that Scar has proven quite deadly in the one series in which Grian is not paired with him. They're cousins now! Last episode Grian briefly called Scar "dad" and Cleo brought it up again and Grian even asked Scar how he felt about that but Scar said Grian and the Bad Boys are their cousins ^^ I also loved the "Scar deflating" sound.
Grian asks Jimmy if they can be good boys instead because nobody likes them, aww ^^ and later when Bad Boys become the Clockers' cousins Scar asks if they can be Bad Boys too, Bad Boys 2.0. According to Jimmy: "We call each other babes, good guys at heart, and we love milk." These Bad Boys descriptions keep changing ^^ When Grian left after the Bad Boys and Clockers affirmed their alliance: "Love you! – is no-one gonna say it back?" They're also definitely not Men in Black, they're just in mourning.
Btw, not too long before, when Scott told Jimmy that if he'd have let him kill him last episode if he'd said "love you" back, Jimmy said that Bad Boys don't love each other, only love their mothers. He also definitely didn't steal any carrots, but fails to convince Scott who points out that Jimmy has a tell in his voice when he's lying, hah.
Tango clearly saw killing Bdubs as the Boogeyman even though they were allies as payback for Bdubs doing the same to him in Last Life, which, understandable, but Bdubs absolutely did not (to be fair Bdubs felt more under pressure) and it definitely lost TIES an alliance. Bdubs was so mad he even said he wanted to turn red, and Martyn offered to oblige, even including a flashback to him killing Ren back in 3rd Life, nice. "You can take the king away from the hand, but you can't take the hand away from the king."
It's actually really funny how TIES went from many alliances to barely any in the span of one episode. Skizz really misunderstood the situation when he thought blowing up the Bread Bridge to signal that the Bad Boys couldn't bully people was doing everyone else a favor, the other groups didn't really care anymore. And he didn't even properly communicate that to the rest of his team and they couldn't really give a good reason to anyone else so now it looks like they did it basically randomly… The contrast between the destruction of the bridge with the dramatic music in the background in his ep and in others' PoV is stark. Also, the blown up bridge in ruins with all the water looks really ugly.
The only one of TIES who's still on good terms with most people is Etho – well, kinda. Etho actually seems to kind of be playing all sides… He even specifically goes to talk to Pearl because she's isolated. I believe him that Scar and Bdubs' deaths wasn't deliberate but I think it was definitely a risk he was aware of and accepted. Scar hit him afterwards but I'm not really sure how he stands with the Clockers right now.
The Mean Gills seem to be on good terms with pretty much everyone – which Scott explicitly said was part of his winning strategy – while the Nosy Neighbors' only alliance left is TIES, after Pearl semi-accidentally killed Jimmy's frog Judge, Judy and Executioner.
Scar is red now! The first one! (Scar saying he'll be a different person and Cleo telling him he'll be a better person, aösdlksdf.) And Skizzle right afterwards, and Jimmy isn't far away from red either… Cleo and Bdubs seemed very excited thinking that they're now free to set traps etc. because it counts as helping Scar, not quite sure what the limit is on that but uhh…
Next session is going to be interesting for sure! (I expect the series to last about eight episodes in total but we'll see…)
I've been procrastinating a lot today, this whole week actually. Not great. I'm not too optimistic that I'll get much more done today because MCC Scuffed starts soon, but maybe a tiny little bit?, we'll see.
