I should invite guests more often. For one it is usually a good time, and also it actually gives me motivation to tidy up (currently even harder than normal because DD is still not home.)

LB is back in Vienna and this time for the foreseeable future, which is fantastic, and it's only two more weeks until my beach vacation, which is also fantastic. Just two more weeks, deep breaths.

My current my-brain-is-turned-off (which is most of the time rn) distraction is still Hermitcraft, both current episodes (the ongoing prank war between the Buttercups(!) and the Perimeter is fantastic and ooh boy did it escalate, and I also really enjoy the museum rivalry and am hoping for either an eventual heist or a night at the museum event or both) and older ones (currently watching Grian's season 6 and it's funny to see how the game has changed.) I even finally have an icon now! I already watched seasons 8 and 7 from Scar's and from Etho's perspectives, with some additional episodes from others, and I made a post about s7 highlights over on

hermitcraft. I'm copying it here because AO3 has been mostly down most of the day which made me more paranoid. (Sufficiently paranoid to finally remember to download more of my favorite fics?, not sure yet.)

Some favorite s7 moments:
- Scar & Grian going darkside: Darth Grian and ScarVader
- Scar calling upon the first HEP agents, and later recruiting the wolf agents. Excellent problem-solving, Mr Mayor.
- HEP finding the secret Resistance base: what timing!
- the Resistance legally buying the diamond throne
- HEP trapping the Resistance and the negotiations
- Shade-E-E's first Free Glass delivery (Etho's episode 13, reaction compilation)
- Noteblock Dragostea Din Tei during explosions (Numa Numa Boom)
- First Mycelium Resistance meeting: "It's about the principle!! And about sending Scar a message!"

Other favorite things:
- That both Grian and Mumbo ended up voting for Scar for Mayor in the end because they thought he would make a good mayor, and were looking forward to him making the shopping district look better. Which he did! Unfortunately Grian can never resist a joke…
- Etho at first being uncertain about being a member of the Resistance, until Grian appoints him Head of Shenanigans which immediately secures his loyalty.
- Everything about Scar & Bdubs, especially each of them getting shot down "friends"-"colleagues" by the other once, Scar explicitly asking for Bdubs' loyalty, Bdubs being jealous of Cub, Bdubs threatening to sell the Greenhouse because Scar didn't restock it, and the Aqua town ~rivalry
- Every time Scar flew down the drilled hole into the nether it looked cool
- So many cool minigames! Not only during the turf war but all the time, especially from Etho's PoV since he was also involved in building many of them, often together with Tango. I particularly liked the stat poker game they made. And Decked Out, of course, so impressive. (DO 2 has four levels – Tango what the hell.) Shame that Hurtin Hermits never got played.
- All of Etho's noteblock music. He built and shows off What is Love and Tetris on Hermitcraft, but all the music he uses in the episodes is so cool. This is why Etho is the copy ninja, he can copy music into Minecraft ^^ (Sadly he stopped doing that in later seasons, in a comment on a s8 episode he said it was partially because of copyright claims he got.)
- Everyone making fun of Grian not finishing the back of his mansion, so he made and won a wager with Scar over the turf war (totally a spontaneous idea and not planned in advance, yep yep), so technically Scar should have finished the back of the mansion ^^

Favorite builds:
- Etho's monstrosity. Who needs an outside anyway! If you just build each room you need you're much more flexible, and it's practical instead of having giant empty insides, I love that. And I love how it is full of color, he pulls off all these unexpected block combinations so well.
- ScarX with the netherfish arising. I was neutral on the project at first, apart from finding it hilarious that Scar definitely deliberately constantly talked about the Big Dig, but with the netherfish it looks really cool.
- Aqu(e)a Town. It came together so well.

Bonus: my favorite moment from season 8 was Scar showing AFK Grian the world (Scar, Grian.)

I even wrote my first two Hermitcraft fics for

hermitcraftguesstheauthorevent; the collection technically went live today but, well, AO3 downtime. I don't really care about the author guessing part of the event but I like fests with that are low stress and have anon periods.
