Early September miscellaneous

My brain is mush.

- I went running again today, go me. I wanted to go when it was not entirely dark out yet but was distracted by a Team Canada stream (no VODs for those, boo), but I went after and temperature-wise that was better anyway.

- The weekend before last weekend, as my mom's birthday present we went canoeing on the Danube, which was great. It started raining and we parked our canoes beneath large trees in a cut-off river branch and had our snack break there, and afterwards it cleared up and was sunny, very nice.

- I got complimented on my hat twice yesterday, that was nice. I got this hat when I visited the nearby palace Schloss Hof with my parents early this summer and forgot my sunglasses, and now I prefer wearing the hat to sunglasses because it is both easier than switching glasses all the time and also I am sensitive to bright light even with sunglasses on.

- I barely visited the excellent ice cream shop around the corner all summer and now I went three times in the past week. Have to take advantage as long as the weather lasts.

- There are so many shows I want to watch but I have no streaming services atm and I am too lazy to figure something out tbh (usually I leave that to DD when she is home) but fortunately I have more than enough MCYT videos and streams to watch.

ooh, canoeing sounds lovely!

I'm also in the "eat lots of ice cream" phase of late summer/early fall. XD

It was! Especially in the beautiful old river branch. (I also want to clarify that when I said we "parked" the canoes that meant they were still in the water and we had to hold on to thick branches occasionally to make sure we would not drift off. But the water was not very deep so my mom could leave the canoe at one point to stabilize it because it almost capsized when my dad tried to get the food out of the bag.)

I do enjoy the ice cream phase :)

This all sounds like good stuff (apart from the lack of streaming services), especially the canoeing and the ice cream (I actually think I know the shop you mean, as my friends took me there when I visited them in Vienna in 2019, and it's really, really good).

Very possible! I don't think there are many other ice cream shops nearby so it's even luckier that this one is so good.

What kind of a hat is it? I'm also sensitive to bright sunlight, especially in hot weather, and a good hat is hard to find.

The shape is kind of similar to this, but in a paler red, with thin white flowery lines and sort of half a bow on one side. I can fold it (sorta) and put it in a bag, which is convenient.
