I'm glad this week is almost over, I found it really hard to focus at work the past few days and I hope it'll be better next week somehow.

I decided to do some more exploring around the base site I'm considering. I found pandas! And two pieces of tall grass in a savannah village. No jungle temple, unfortunately, but later more warm ocean ruins and I found another sniffer egg. I also found a witch hut in a swamp! I thought I'd find a witch and a black cat there so I did some fishing before coming closer so I could tame the cat, but then the hut was empty and then I read on the wiki that the witch and the cat both start to wander around as soon as they spawn. Unfortunately I didn't find the black cat.

I got so annoyed that I was running out of storage that I decided to go back to the End. Fortunately the second stronghold I recently discovered was not far, and with elytra exploring the End islands is not hard, even though I'm still scared of endermen. Unfortunately I kept forgetting to take notes about my location or make signs so I might fly off in the exact same direction next time… I found one End city I had already discovered and three new ones. Some tense moments but I didn't die and I got the materials for six more shulker boxes, which should last at least for a little while. Sadly no Spire armor trim, and no new elytra either. I left as soon as I found an end gateway because the End is both dangerous and kind of boring, the worst combination.

Then I decided to give it another try after all and look for the armor trim and extra elytra. No success, unfortunately, but I did get some more shulker shells. I took the first end gateway back I saw again but I must have placed my bed badly under a tree because I reappeared at spawn. Not even that upsetting though because I was planning to go back soon anyway.

I made my way back to my base, put the new maps up on my wall, and now it was time to do some storage sorting! …I really need a bigger base. (I'm now considering building one near spawn actually, it would be convenient and it's a nice area, if a bit boring. And maybe with the new tuff blocks once they're out? I could build farms there too to take advantage of the spawn chunks being loaded even though they are smaller now, maybe a cactus farm, idk.)

After only sorting one shulker box full of loot I started procrastinating and, inspired by the ocean cult on Hermitcraft s10, did some fishing while watching videos/streams. Not much cool loot but my baby sniffer grew up and dug up the first seeds! I have three pitcher plants and a torchflower plant in front of my house now. But I won't stand next to the sniffer all the time so I might actually have to do some kind of fancy set-up like either putting it somewhere with droppers underneath, or getting allays. After some more chest sorting I even tried the former but I made a small area because droppers are expensive and I don't think it works, I think it needs to be bigger. I might have to try the thing I've seen where a minecart drives around below the mud to collect things? Or maybe use water? Would have to do some experimenting.

I decided to complete the map around the spawn point which I hadn't yet done for some reason. Along the way I tamed a few more horses because the one I currently use is not too fast and is a terrible jumper, but I didn't find one that was clearly faster. I also did some monster hunting at night, which I hadn't done in a while.

And I found the turtle beach I used waay back when to get a turtle shell helmet! There were still dozens of unhatched turtle eggs there, and I decided to get myself some back-up scutes. I ended up staying for several nights until all the eggs hatched and grew and I ended up getting 35 scutes. It took me over a day to realize I should fence in the hatching zone so the baby turtles wouldn't just swim into the lake where I would never find the scute… and then every once in a while I had to get the adult turtles out of the enclosure so I would see the scutes dropped. One a wandering trader spawned and I realized too late that he was trampling eggs, that was one of the few wandering traders I killed on purpose.

I made a brief trip back to my base for supply and planning, and then decided to finish an incomplete map right north of spawn. On the side of a frozen peaks mountain range I found a pillager outpost, and at first I wasn't concerned because my last pillager outpost conquest went well. But not only did the nearby ice and crevasses make things more difficult, pillagers also just kept spawning in large numbers. I fled when it got dark and hid in a quickly dug stone cave, and then I went back after sleeping but there were even more of them! (Not helping: my armor isn't that great – blast and fire protection on my chestplate/leggings instead of normal prot iv – and I ran out of arrows. My Infinity bow is almost broken and I'm constantly low on levels to make a new one so I'm currently using a Mending one but I keep underestimating how many arrows I'll need, and while under attack is not a good moment to get the extra ones out of my ender chest.) I managed to take a look into the chest – no armor trim, unfortunately – and then retreated without even marking the place with a banner.

I then completed that map and decided to visit my second ever discovered village on the way back because I hadn't been there in a while. …completely forgetting that I still had Bad Omen, so I promptly triggered a raid. I'm an idiot.

I quickly logged out to calm my nerves and tackled the raid the next day. Fortunately I remembered a trick I saw in a video from iJevin: put boats down so the illagers get stuck in them. I managed to catch one in the first wave and didn't kill it immediately, so then I had plenty of time left to do my preparations, lock the remaining villagers in their houses etc. All in all it went pretty well! Much smoother than my first one, even though there were not many iron golems around. Many illagers did indeed get stuck in boats, and I managed to shoot many from a distance. There was even an extra wave but I persevered, go me. Hero of the village!

Afterwards it occurred to me I should clean up all the boats before the villagers get stuck in them, heh. I did some trading to take advantage of the discounts, sadly I had been on a trading trip not too long ago and my trading goods chest was almost empty. (I did use the opportunity to buy more Mending books than I need right now but that I will most likely need eventually.)

Next: I would love to have a nether shortcut between my base and spawn. It's not terribly far in the overworld so it should be close in the nether, and it would be very convenient especially if I do decide to build there. If I want to be fancy I could even make it a quick minecart ride.
Buut that would mean going to the nether again, we'll see if I'll find the motivation for that. I haven't been in a while. I do want to raid a bastion eventually, hmm.
