Hades 2 EA, day 1

Hades 2! So far I love it as much as I hoped I would. I played for four hours, and I'm not planning to take overly detailed notes (not like I did for Hades 1 at times...) but I do want to take some for my own memory.
On my first run I almost died in the second room but then made it to the sixth one. On my second run I made it to the end boss of Erebus!, who I already knew was Hecate. (The cauldron got unlocked, so there wasn't even a conversation back at the Crossroads about that encounter afterwards ^^) Third run, Hecate again, but I made it to the second phase this time. Then the flashback to small Melinoe playing with Hecate, aww. Run four, Hecate's second phase again, and seeing Moros for the first time.
On run five I finally met Artemis! Very cool. Aand I died soon after before even making it to Hecate, I hope she wasn't watching anymore, ahem. On my next run I met Selene. Silver Sisters, hm? On the run after that I made it to Hecate's third phase and died as a sheep. Oops.
The run after that I'd unlocked the well in Erebus and found a cat there! Adorable, and I wonder what's up with that... I saw it again the next run too.
On my ninth run I finally defeated Hecate! (The trick was to keep my distance and spam my special.) That felt very cool. I got to Oceanus - did not expect that area but it's so ominous, with the singing and the traps and the tight spaces... I almost died in the first chamber but then against all odds I made it to the end of the biome! Where I promptly lost very quickly to Scylla and the Sirens, heh.
I've given nectar to several people now, I forgot how rare nectar is early on. Nemesis' Evil Eye was definitely helpful against Hecate, now to see if I can do it without... "Leveling up" is already slowing down, I need more resources.
It's funny, in Hades 1 it took me a looot longer to make it out of the first biome, but like this it felt like there was barely enough time for all the dialogue. It's tricky when several things that you expect characters to react to happen in the same run; I probably missed some dialogue, too.
Nemesis feels a bit similar to Meg did in her role as rival, but I like Nemesis more than I did Meg at first because I can see how Mel manages to say the exact wrong thing every time.
I like Arachne :) And I really look forward to meeting Hermes.
More thoughts some other time I should go to bed.

Date: 2024-05-07 07:49 am (UTC)(I only just read the e-mail from Steam telling me this game was out in EA now, so I'm very excited to get started - and happy to know other people are already playing too! Also a bit worried there might be frustrating bugs, although I've no idea how common/uncommon that is for EA releases.)
